Funny Car Round 1 Eliminations

BROWNSBURG, Ind. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Funny Car at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Inaugural Lucas Oil NHRA Summernationals at Indianapolis:

Weather conditions: air temperature 86 degrees, relative humidity 69 percent, barometer 29.00 inches, adjusted altitude 3,972 feet, track temperature 98 degrees.

Tim Wilkerson's is 9 - 0 against Dale Creasy.

Creasy with the starting line advantage, but starts to drift toward the centerline and clicks it off.

Wilkerson had the lead by 100 feet and then runs low E.T. and top speed of the event for the win.

This is the fourth consecutive race this year where Ron Capps has met one of his DSR teammates and he has yet to win a round against them.

Matt Hagan is 26 - 33 against Ron Capps and those 33 losses are the most for him against any opponent that he has faced.

Capps with the starting line advantage, but Hagan has the lead by 100 feet and never trailed for the win. Hagan runs the quickest pass and second fastest of the event for the win. Matt Hagan's incremental times: 60ft-0.873 sec., 330ft-2.249, 660ft-3.181/276.35 mph.

Capps runs the third quickest pass of the event and the fastest pass of the event in the losing effort. Ron Capps' incremental times: 60ft-0.889 sec., 330ft-2.268, 660ft-3.214/271.84 mph.

This is the first time Tasca III and Miladinovich have faced each other in eliminations.

This is 19th time that Tommy Johnson has qualified No. 2 and he is 16 - 2 in the opening round after qualifying second.

Johnson Jr. is 5 - 1 against Bode in prior events.

Johnson Jr. with the starting line advantage and never trailed for the win. He started to spin the tires on the top end, but holds on for the win.

Bode started to drop cylinders and it pushes the car out of the groove toward the wall. The car does hit wall at the finish line and the runs will be DQ'ed

Campbell with the starting line advantage, but Todd had the difference made up by the time they went by the Christmas tree and never trailed from there on for the win. todd with his quickest pass of the weekend for the win. Todd will give up lane choice to Hagan in the next round.

Campbell was out of the groove early and headed toward the centerline before he clicked it off.

Chad Green is making his first start in the Funny Car class. He is the 389th driver to qualify for an NHRA Funny Car field.

Jack Beckman is 228 - 92 (71%) in round 1.

Beckman with the starting line advantage and neve trailed for the win. Beckman with his quickest pass of the weekend for the win. He will give up lane choice to Wilkerson in the next round.

Green was out of the groove on the top end and gets close to the wall.

Pedregon with the starting line advantage and never trailed for the win. He runs his quickest pass of the weekend for the win. He will have lane choice over Johnson Jr. in the next round.

Haddock with a good clean pass in the losing effort.

Lee with the starting line advantage and never trailed for the win. He runs his quickest pass of the weekend for the win. He will have lane choice over Tasca in the next round.

DeJoria started to haze the tires on the top end and she clicks it off.
