Top Fuel Round 1 Eliminations

BROWNSBURG, Ind. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Inaugural Lucas Oil NHRA Summernationals at Indianapolis:

Weather conditions: air temperature 86 degrees, relative humidity 69 percent, barometer 29.00 inches, adjusted altitude 3,972 feet, track temperature 98 degrees.

In T.J. Zizzo's 68 starts this is the eighth time he has been in the top half of the field but it's the fifth time he has done it in his last 10 starts.

This is the first time Zizzo and Totten have faced each other in eliminations.

Zizzo with the starting line advantage and never trailed for the win. He makes his quickest pass of the weekend for the win.

Totten with a good clean pass in the losing effort.

McMillen with the starting line advantage and never trailed for the win. He runs the quickest and fastest pass of the event for the win. Terry McMillen's incremental times: 60ft-0.849 sec., 330ft-2.140, 660ft-3.022/289.01 mph.

Schumacher started hazing the tires around 330 feet and finally clicked it off.

This is the 24th time that Clay Millican has qualified No. 1 and that is the 11th most in the history of the Top Fuel class.

This is Todd Paton's 50th race in a fuel car (TF & FC).

This is the first time Millican and Paton have faced each other in eliminations.

Millican with a few ticks on the tree and started to haze the tires. He pedaled it around half track. Patton has the lead by half track and never trails from there on for the win. He runs his quickest and fastest pass of the weekend for the win.

He will give up lane choice to Zizzo in the next round.

This is the 11th time that Steve and Billy Torrence have met and the first time it has happened in round 1. Steve leads the series 7 - 3 (1 - 1 this year). The only person to beat Steve this year is Billy and the only person to beat Billy is Steve

It sounded like Steve double stepped it and Billy with the starting line advantage. Billy with the power to hold on for the hole shot win. Steve Torrence with the second quickest pass of the event in the losing effort.

Billy Torrence with the third quickest pass of the event for the win. He will have lane choice over Pruett in the next round.
