Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #2

POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 60th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Jim Maroney Runs 4.035/294.43, Now #9; No Prior Run

Weather conditions: air temperature 73 degrees, relative humidity 33 percent, barometer 28.90 inches, adjusted altitude 2,509 feet, track temperature 94 degrees.

Maroney didn't make a pass in the earlier session today. He was on a good pass early and then started mixing up cylinders. The word from the Safety Safari is there is oil on the track. Jim Maroney was charged with an oildown, #1 for the season. That will cost 5 points.

Left Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 3.758/325.45, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.757/93.04, Was #12

McMillen launched hard and kept it hitting on all eight to move into the top half of the show. Terry McMillen's incremental times: 60ft-0.861 sec., 330ft-2.151, 660ft-3.023/290.51 mph.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.784/319.07, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.780/322.42, Was #7
Right Lane: Austin Prock Runs 4.361/195.03, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.792/110.95, Was #12

Brown with another clean pass, but will not improve and stays in the number seven spot. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.849 sec., 330ft-2.155, 660ft-3.035/287.66 mph.

Prock rattles the tires and pedals it, but can't get it to hook up and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Shawn Reed Runs 3.735/328.86, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.771/328.38, Was #6
Right Lane: Justin Ashley Runs 7.402/83.03, Now #11; Best prior run: 4.094/214.96, Was #11

Reed launched hard and kept it hooked up to make the quickest pass of the session and he moves up the ladder a coupled spots. Shawn Reed's incremental times: 60ft-0.830 sec., 330ft-2.119, 660ft-2.999/288.46 mph.

Ashley was dropping cylinders early and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 3.699/322.42, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.737/322.58, Was #5

Langdon kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight all the way down the track. He goes to the number one spot. Shawn Langdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.826 sec., 330ft-2.100, 660ft-2.960/293.09 mph.

Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 4.116/212.93, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.729/329.75, Was #4
Right Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.779/283.55, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.798/273.88, Was #8

Kalitta started to lose traction and clicked it off.

Millican was on a good looking pass and started to haze the tires on the top end and clicked it off early. Clay Millican's incremental times: 60ft-0.843 sec., 330ft-2.121, 660ft-3.001/288.27 mph.

Left Lane: Leah Pruett Runs 6.976/77.63, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.715/324.75, Was #3
Right Lane: Brittany Force Runs 6.314/101.29, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.706/329.10, Was #2

Pruett is up in up in smoke right at the hit and her chutes are out...

Force is also up in smoke right off the starting line and she clicks it off.
