POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Competition Eliminator at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 60th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals presented by listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed this round, amount over/under index this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time, speed & over/under Index, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Joe Mozeris Runs 8.881/153.46/1.401, Now #12; B/ED Index: 7.48, Prior Best: 8.447/110.61/0.967, Was #11
Right Lane: Bob Sherwood Runs 8.015/169.06/-0.435, Now #7; A/SM Index: 8.45, Prior Best: 18.563/0.00/10.113, Was #14

3:01 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 68 degrees, relative humidity 28 percent, barometer 28.91 inches, adjusted altitude 2,111 feet, track temperature 94 degrees. Field not filled, no bump spot.

Mozeris slows down track.

Sherwood gets to the lights under power this time and moves into the current top half of the field.

Hodges gets a huge starting line advantage and still gets moved back a spot by a much improved Edwards.

Right Lane: Joshua Lee Runs 8.777/149.46/-0.713, Now #1; H/EA Index: 9.49, No Prior Run

Lee's Q1 times were DQ'ed, so he just comes back in Q2 and runs seventy under to takeover the top spot!

Jones picks up a bunch too and four spots on the ladder to the top 4.

Kadar gets his full pass this time and powers right up to the number two spot. Nice!

Van Paepeghem gets a number on the boards this time to near the middle of the field.

Carter keeps the pedal down this time and makes a much better pass. He jumps up seven spots to #6.

Moore leaves well and was running strong until right after half track, where there is smoke from underneath the car! He still moves five spots up the ladder.

Warter slows a tad from session one and will stay #5.

Chomiski picks up a tad and one spot on the ladder to #14.

Left Lane: Doug Lambeck Runs 8.309/160.98/-0.621, Now #3; D/SMA Index: 8.93, Prior Best: 8.286/161.56/-0.644, Was #3
Right Lane: Ross Wilson Runs 8.137/167.95/-0.623, Now #5; C/SM Index: 8.76, Prior Best: 8.626/118.79/-0.134, Was #16

Big improvement for Wilson with a nice wheels up leave. He moves eleven spots up to the number five spot on a strong pass.

Clean pass for Lambeck, but just off of his Q1 times to stay #3.

Right Lane: Craig Bourgeois Runs 8.115/132.88/-0.345, Now #17; A/ND Index: 8.46, No Prior Run

Bourgeois' car moves towards the center line about 60 feet out, but he gathers it up and puts a qualifying number on the boards.

Right Lane: Joe Mozeris Runs 6.945/188.96/-0.535, Now #11; B/ED Index: 7.48, Prior Best: 8.447/110.61/0.967, Was #18

Last car of the session!

Mozeris gets a full pass this time too and moves up to #11.
