Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Final Session

ENNIS, Texas - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 34th annual AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Jeff Arend Runs 4.112/297.94, Now #14; Best prior run: 4.781/173.32, Was #18

5:51 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 85 degrees, relative humidity 38 percent, barometer 29.12 inches, adjusted altitude 3,211 feet, track temperature 102 degrees.

Arend has only made one pass this weekend. He goes right down the groove on this one and gets in the show in the 14th spot for now.

Jeff Arend's incremental times: 60ft-0.909 sec., 330ft-2.321, 660ft-3.302/260.51 mph.

Left Lane: Jim Campbell Runs 4.079/313.58, Now #14; Best prior run: 4.526/188.62, Was #18
Right Lane: Terry Haddock Runs 4.217/291.51, Now #16; Best prior run: 4.167/237.34, Was #15

Campbell has been down the track three times this weekend but hasn't made a full pass under power. Haddock has only made it down the track once and that was a busted run.

Campbell goes down the groove with a clean, straight pass and he gets in the show in the 14th spot for now. Haddock had a cylinder out at the hit but was able to run quick enough to get in on the bump spot. Pedregon is now on the outside looking in with one more shot.

Right Lane: Tim Wilkerson Runs 3.895/315.05, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.969/314.02, Was #13

Wilkerson is safely in the show, Pedregon is not.

Pedregon does what he needs to do, going right down the roove with a full pass under power, and he gets safely in the show in the 14th spot. Wilkerson makes a good pass, his quickest of the weekend, and he moves up to the seventh spot for now.

Cruz Pedregon's incremental times: 60ft-0.879 sec., 330ft-2.285, 660ft-3.241/272.78 mph.

Tim Wilkerson's incremental times: 60ft-0.865 sec., 330ft-2.227, 660ft-3.137/282.60 mph.

Left Lane: Blake Alexander No Time, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.925/327.11, Was #11
Right Lane: Jonnie Lindberg Runs 3.961/322.88, Now #13; Best prior run: 3.963/321.12, Was #13

Alexander completes his burnout and starts to stage. He developed a fuel leak on the burnout and was instructed to click it off. Lindberg goes down the groove with a good pass, makes his quickest pass of the weekend, but he stays in the 13th spot.

Left Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 3.924/325.92, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.921/326.08, Was #10
Right Lane: Jack Beckman Runs 4.601/177.09, Now #12; Best prior run: 3.937/327.11, Was #12

Langdon goes down the groove with a clean, straight pass but he doesn't improve. Beckman was on a good pass but strikes the tires about 400 feet out and he has to give up on the run.

Shawn Langdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.867 sec., 330ft-2.241, 660ft-3.174/277.49 mph.

Left Lane: Matt Hagan Runs 3.950/317.49, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.890/310.77, Was #6
Right Lane: Tommy Johnson Jr. Runs 3.936/316.60, Now #9; Best prior run: 3.920/324.44, Was #9

A good side-by-side, both right down the groove with decent passes. Hagan makes a full pull, his second of the weekend, but he doesn't improve and stays in the sixth spot. Johnson makes his third full pass of the weekend and doesn't improve.

Matt Hagan's incremental times: 60ft-0.863 sec., 330ft-2.239, 660ft-3.181/272.17 mph.
Tommy Johnson Jr.'s incremental times: 60ft-0.856 sec., 330ft-2.231, 660ft-3.172/274.11 mph.

Left Lane: Bob Tasca III Runs 3.880/329.02, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.883/327.90, Was #5
Right Lane: Paul Lee Runs 4.228/224.28, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.912/316.08, Was #8

Tasca makes an impressive pass for the conditions, his quickest of the weekend and the quickest of the round so far, and he moves up to the fourth spot. Lee was pushing toward the centerline early, gets about 500 feet out and clicks it off.

Bob Tasca III's incremental times: 60ft-0.863 sec., 330ft-2.224, 660ft-3.140/282.54 mph.

Left Lane: Robert Hight Runs 4.562/181.11, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.851/335.07, Was #2
Right Lane: Ron Capps Runs 4.022/290.19, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.881/332.43, Was #5

Hight was on a decent pass but hazed the tires about 5090 feet out and he clicked it off. Capps was on a good pass but it looked like he had problems a little before he reached the finish line.

Left Lane: John Force Runs 3.937/325.77, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.834/337.33, Was #1
Right Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 3.903/330.55, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.866/334.40, Was #3

Todd makes a good pass to end this session but he doesn't improve.

Force makes a clean pass but doesn't improve. He qualifies number one for the fifth time this season and the 160th time in his career.
