Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Final Session

MORRISON, Colo. - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 40th annual Dodge Mile-High NHRA Nationals presented by Pennzoil listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Right Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 7.713/91.63, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.685/100.61, Was #13

Weather conditions: air temperature 76 degrees, relative humidity 47 percent, barometer 24.37 inches, adjusted altitude 8,806 feet, track temperature 72 degrees.

McMillen is up in smoke right at the hit and clicked it off.

Right Lane: Mike Salinas Runs 11.551/77.48, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.736/117.90, Was #12

Salinas is up in smoke right at the hit and clicks it off.

Right Lane: Greg Carrillo Runs 4.125/214.86, Now #10; Best prior run: 4.704/165.76, Was #10

Carrillo was on a solid pass until around the 1/8th mile mark when he started to haze the tires and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.867/267.96, Now #6; Best prior run: 7.471/74.36, Was #14
Right Lane: Austin Prock Runs 3.884/318.32, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.898/320.13, Was #7

This was a good side-by-side drag race.

Millican launched hard and was on good looking pass, he clicked it off early. He still moves into the top half of the show. Clay Millican's incremental times: 60ft-0.862 sec., 330ft-2.165, 660ft-3.046/289.88 mph.

Prock with his quickest pass of the weekend, but gets bumped back one spot by Millican. Austin Prock's incremental times: 60ft-0.867 sec., 330ft-2.199, 660ft-3.119/277.37 mph.

Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.968/313.58, Now #9; Best prior run: 4.099/262.44, Was #10
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.854/315.71, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.863/308.92, Was #5

Kalitta started to loose traction and did a quick pedal job and got it to hook up. He moves up the ladder one spot. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.853 sec., 330ft-2.253, 660ft-3.197/274.05 mph.

Brown with his quickest pass of the weekend to move up the ladder one spot. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.854 sec., 330ft-2.183, 660ft-3.091/280.66 mph.

Left Lane: Brittany Force Runs 3.831/284.81, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.976/310.70, Was #10
Right Lane: Jordan Vandergriff Runs 3.796/321.27, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.860/315.64, Was #5

Force with the great pass until right in the lights where she clicked it off early. She still goes to the number four spot. Brittany Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.836 sec., 330ft-2.139, 660ft-3.046/283.13 mph.

Vandergriff launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number two spot. Jordan Vandergriff's incremental times: 60ft-0.844 sec., 330ft-2.157, 660ft-3.048/286.44 mph.

Left Lane: Richie Crampton Runs 4.103/223.65, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.871/305.49, Was #8
Right Lane: Leah Pritchett Runs 3.761/315.19, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.816/318.77, Was #3

Crampton was on a good looking pass until it started to lose traction around the 1/8th mile mark. He clicked it off.

Pritchett with the header flames shooting high over the rear wing all the way down the track to go to the number one spot. This pass is the second quickest pass in the history of the Mountain. Leah Pritchett's incremental times: 60ft-0.845 sec., 330ft-2.137, 660ft-3.008/289.38 mph.

Left Lane: Scott Palmer Runs 4.225/202.24, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.851/314.68, Was #5
Right Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.738/328.78, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.776/323.89, Was #2

Palmer with a good pass until it started to lose traction just past half track and he clicked it off.

Torrence launched hard and kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to go back to the number one spot. Torrence makes the second quickest pass in the history of the Mountain and the second fastest pass. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.844 sec., 330ft-2.127, 660ft-3.002/288.83 mph.

Torrence qualifies number one for the third time this season and the 22nd time in his career.
