Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Final Session

POMONA, Calif. - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 59th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals presented by listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Right Lane: Steve Faria No Time, Now #14; Best prior run: 5.574/118.60, Was #14

Weather conditions: air temperature 60 degrees, relative humidity 49 percent, barometer 28.85 inches, adjusted altitude 1,794 feet, track temperature 83 degrees.

Faria was up in smoke right the hit and he clicked it off. He came to a stop around 330 feet.

Left Lane: Austin Prock Runs 8.161/74.47, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.767/324.75, Was #11
Right Lane: Leah Pritchett Runs 4.011/212.86, Now #12; Best prior run: 3.963/214.59, Was #12

Prock with tire shake right at the hit and he clicked it off.

Pritchett was on a good pass until around half track when the engine let go with a quick fireball.

Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 8.366/78.18, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.759/320.43, Was #10
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.696/333.08, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.758/328.22, Was #9

Millican lost traction right at the hit and clicked it off.

Brown launched hard and he kept it hooked up to tie Force's E.T. and he will get the number one spot based on his faster speed. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.834 sec., 330ft-2.112, 660ft-2.973/294.75 mph.

Left Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 6.352/106.34, Now #9; Best prior run: 3.748/326.79, Was #9
Right Lane: Billy Torrence Runs 3.662/326.79, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.738/329.99, Was #8

McMillen was up in smoke early and clicked it off.

Torrence launched hard, kept it hitting on all eight and hooked up to go to the number one spot. He runs his career best E.T. Billy Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.815 sec., 330ft-2.078, 660ft-2.933/296.50 mph.

Left Lane: Mike Salinas Runs 3.710/331.45, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.722/331.12, Was #8
Right Lane: Scott Palmer Runs 3.721/325.53, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.720/328.38, Was #7

Salinas is straight down the groove with his career quickest and fastest pass to go to the number four spot. Mike Salinas' incremental times: 60ft-0.831 sec., 330ft-2.114, 660ft-2.982/292.71 mph.

Palmer with another great pass, just a tick off his best pass ot the weekend. Scott Palmer's incremental times: 60ft-0.824 sec., 330ft-2.112, 660ft-2.987/290.44 mph.

Left Lane: Richie Crampton Runs 7.991/82.97, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.712/327.43, Was #6
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 4.422/187.78, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.716/326.87, Was #7

Crampton loses traction early and clicks it off.

Kalitta started to lose traction and pedaled it, but couldn't get it to hook up and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Brittany Force Runs 8.455/73.97, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.696/325.37, Was #3
Right Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.657/331.61, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.711/328.86, Was #5

Force is up in smoke early and clicked it off.

Torrence launched hard with header flames shooting high over the rear wing all the way down track to go to the number one spot. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.817 sec., 330ft-2.080, 660ft-2.935/295.59 mph. Torrence makes the 10th quickest pass in history on this pass. Torrence earns his 20th number one qualifying spot.
