Top Alcohol Dragster Qualifying Notes, Session #1

CONCORD, N.C. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 11th annual NHRA Carolina Nationals presented by WIX Filters listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Earl Nichols Jr. Runs 5.593/258.12, Now #1
Right Lane: Dan Dietrich Runs 7.267/141.88, Now #2

Weather conditions: air temperature 71 degrees, relative humidity 41 percent, barometer 29.18 inches, adjusted altitude 2,117 feet, track temperature 92 degrees.

Nichols Jr. is straight down the groove with a good pass to start the weekend. Earl Nichols Jr.'s incremental times: 60ft-1.031 sec., 330ft-2.585, 660ft-3.749/216.45 mph, 1,000ft-4.735.

Dietrich is loose and out of the groove and over by the centerline before he clicked it off.

Left Lane: Tom Fox Jr. Runs 13.844/55.09, Now #4
Right Lane: Doug Foley Runs 5.413/270.54, Now #1

Fox Jr. is up in smoke right at the hit and clicked it off.

Foley is straight down the groove with a good looking pass. Doug Foley's incremental times: 60ft-0.976 sec., 330ft-2.498, 660ft-3.630/221.63 mph, 1,000ft-4.589.

Left Lane: Tiffany Januik Runs 5.488/233.08, Now #3
Right Lane: Jeff Veale Runs 5.313/276.75, Now #1

Januik launched hard and was kept it hooked up with a good looking pass. Tiffany Januik's incremental times: 60ft-0.960 sec., 330ft-2.443, 660ft-3.596/215.07 mph, 1,000ft-4.584.

Veale kept it hitting on all eight to go to the number one spot. Jeff Veale's incremental times: 60ft-0.958 sec., 330ft-2.449, 660ft-3.571/224.58 mph, 1,000ft-4.511.

Left Lane: Brandon Greco Runs 5.425/262.49, Now #4
Right Lane: Julie Nataas Runs 5.336/273.61, Now #2

Greco with a good clean pass to start the weekend. Brandon Greco's incremental times: 60ft-0.942 sec., 330ft-2.411, 660ft-3.571/212.93 mph, 1,000ft-4.572.

Nataas with a great pass to go to the number two spot. Julie Nataas' incremental times: 60ft-0.961 sec., 330ft-2.474, 660ft-3.586/226.89 mph, 1,000ft-4.522.

Left Lane: Justin Ashley Runs 5.349/275.62, Now #3
Right Lane: Dan Page Runs 5.493/260.06, Now #7

Ashley with really good pass, straight down the groove. Justin Ashley's incremental times: 60ft-0.951 sec., 330ft-2.474, 660ft-3.595/224.92 mph, 1,000ft-4.539.

Page is straight down the groove with a clean pass. Dan Page's incremental times: 60ft-0.942 sec., 330ft-2.552, 660ft-3.690/223.58 mph, 1,000ft-4.647.

Left Lane: Duane Shields Runs 5.244/278.58, Now #1
Right Lane: Megan Meyer Runs 5.280/279.15, Now #2

This is a great side-by-side drag race as they go to the number one and two spots.

Shields launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Duane Shields' incremental times: 60ft-0.942 sec., 330ft-2.426, 660ft-3.515/230.29 mph, 1,000ft-4.444.

Meyer is right there with him to go to the number two spot. Megan Meyer's incremental times: 60ft-0.972 sec., 330ft-2.465, 660ft-3.561/230.57 mph, 1,000ft-4.484.

Left Lane: Josh Hart Runs 5.303/276.13, Now #4
Right Lane: Troy Coughlin Jr. Runs 5.275/272.67, Now #2

Another great drag race...

Hart is straight down the groove to the number four spot. Josh Hart's incremental times: 60ft-0.953 sec., 330ft-2.442, 660ft-3.556/225.75 mph, 1,000ft-4.497.

Coughlin Jr had it hitting on all eight all the way down the track to go to the number two spot. Troy Coughlin Jr.'s incremental times: 60ft-0.943 sec., 330ft-2.422, 660ft-3.524/227.54 mph, 1,000ft-4.462.

Left Lane: Joey Severance Runs 13.368/55.63, Now #15
Right Lane: Shawn Cowie Runs 5.522/260.97, Now #12

Severance with severe tire shake right at the hit and clicked it off.

Cowie with a clean pass. Shawn Cowie's incremental times: 60ft-0.959 sec., 330ft-2.468, 660ft-3.650/209.72 mph, 1,000ft-4.661.
