TOPEKA, Kan. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 30th annual Menards NHRA Heartland Nationals presented by Minties:

Whiteley is 2 - 0 against Brown in prior events.

Brown with a great light and runs his quickest pass of the weekend for the win. Bryan Brown's MOV: 0.0702 seconds (approximately 27 feet).

Whiteley with her quickest pass of the weekend in the losing effort.

After a 45 minute delay for a quick rain shower and we are back to racing.

This is the first time Lombardo Jr. and McVey have faced each other in eliminations.

Lombardo with the starting line advantage and never trailed for the win. He runs his quickest pass of the weekend for the win. He will get the bye in the next round.

McVey with severe tire shake right at the hit and makes a quick move toward the centerline and takes out the 330-foot cones.

Gasparrelli with his quickest pass of the weekend for the win. He will have lane choice over Westerfield by 0.007 seconds in the next round.

This is the first time Burck and Kaplan have faced each other in eliminations.

Kaplan with a great light and never trailed for the win. Jirka Kaplan's MOV: 0.0283 seconds (approximately 11 feet). Then his chutes don't fully deploy and he is through the sand and into the net. The word from the top end is he is out of the car and okay.

Burck with his quickest pass of the weekend in the losing effort.

Marshall with the bye here, he qualified number one for the second time in his career.

After a hour and 45 minutes to fix the net.

Marshall has problems as he fires the car dies and the chutes came out. The crew gets the chute packed and he gets the car fired. He pulls through the water stages and takes the gree for the win. He will give up lane choice to Kaplan in the next round.
