Pro Modified Qualifying Notes, Final Session

BAYTOWN, Texas - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Pro Modified at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 31st annual NHRA SpringNationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Right Lane: Dan Stevenson Runs 9.758/122.06, Now #23; Best prior run: 5.912/211.49, Was #23

Weather conditions: air temperature 77 degrees, relative humidity 70 percent, barometer 29.93 inches, adjusted altitude 2,007 feet, track temperature 87 degrees.

Stevenson with severe tire shake and he will not get in the show.

Right Lane: Chip King Runs 5.847/245.36, Now #18; Best prior run: 5.911/244.12, Was #22

King with his quickest pass of the season, but he will not get in the show. Chip King's incremental times: 60ft-0.935 sec., 330ft-2.556, 660ft-3.839/193.77 mph, 1,000ft-4.930.

Right Lane: Pete Farber Runs 5.912/238.43, Now #22; Best prior run: 5.894/242.54, Was #22

No help here and Farber will not get in the show.

Stevens slowed from yesterday, but was straight down the groove and will not get in the show.

Rowe was straight down the groove just a few ticks off his qualifying time and stays on the bubble. Danny Rowe's incremental times: 60ft-0.962 sec., 330ft-2.589, 660ft-3.866/195.28 mph, 1,000ft-4.942.

Whiteley was loose on the launch, but stay with it. He doesn't improve...Jim Whiteley's incremental times: 60ft-0.948 sec., 330ft-2.552, 660ft-3.824/194.72 mph, 1,000ft-4.911.

Left Lane: Steven Whiteley Runs 5.787/250.78, Now #13; Best prior run: 5.825/249.12, Was #15
Right Lane: Rick Hord Runs 5.792/237.42, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.785/252.66, Was #12

Whiteley was straight down the groove with the second quickest pass of the session, but will not improve. Steven Whiteley's incremental times: 60ft-0.979 sec., 330ft-2.584, 660ft-3.823/198.35 mph, 1,000ft-4.888.

Hord kept it hooked up to make the third quickest pass of the round. He will not improve... Rick Hord's incremental times: 60ft-0.985 sec., 330ft-2.605, 660ft-3.835/202.15 mph, 1,000ft-4.883.

Left Lane: Todd Tutterow Runs 5.799/247.02, Now #10; Best prior run: 5.774/248.16, Was #10
Right Lane: Shane Molinari Runs 10.252/87.31, Now #11; Best prior run: 5.784/255.97, Was #11

Tutterow was straight down the groove with the fourth quickest pass of the round...Todd Tutterow's incremental times: 60ft-0.951 sec., 330ft-2.542, 660ft-3.807/195.56 mph, 1,000ft-4.887.

Molinari with severe tire shake and clicked it off.

This was a great side-by-side drag race...

Rahaim launched hard and kept it hooked up to make the fourth quickest pass of the session. Bob Rahaim's incremental times: 60ft-0.976 sec., 330ft-2.587, 660ft-3.833/199.26 mph, 1,000ft-4.895.

Ray was right there with him with the fifth quickest pass of the round. Jeremy Ray's incremental times: 60ft-0.949 sec., 330ft-2.539, 660ft-3.800/196.19 mph, 1,000ft-4.882.

Left Lane: Khalid alBalooshi Runs 6.247/155.13, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.746/249.53, Was #6

3:43 p.m. after a short delay due to rain...it started around 3:15.

alBalooshi started to get loose and clicked it off.

Smith with severe tire shake at the hit and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Chad Green Runs 13.032/64.96, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.746/250.23, Was #5
Right Lane: Steve Jackson Runs 8.172/113.91, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.707/249.03, Was #2

Green with a lot of tire shake and clicked it off.

Jackson lost traction early and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Mike Janis Runs 5.747/248.43, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.733/234.61, Was #4
Right Lane: Jose Gonzalez Runs 5.753/254.71, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.696/257.78, Was #1

This was a great side-by-side drag race to wrap up qualifying.

Janis launched hard and kept it hooked up to make the second quickest pass of the session. Mike Janis' incremental times: 60ft-0.955 sec., 330ft-2.522, 660ft-3.773/197.91 mph, 1,000ft-4.842.

Gonzalez was right there with him with the third quickest pass of the session. He holds on to the number one spot for the first time in his career. Jose Gonzalez's incremental times: 60ft-0.989 sec., 330ft-2.584, 660ft-3.817/201.43 mph, 1,000ft-4.868.
