Top Alcohol Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Final Session

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 49th annual Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Aryan Rochon Runs 6.438/184.98, Now #11; Best prior run: 11.043/75.71, Was #11
Right Lane: Bill Naves Runs 8.600/80.08, Now #12; No Prior Run

8:22 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 73 degrees, relative humidity 45 percent, barometer 29.83 inches, adjusted altitude 1,576 feet, track temperature 85 degrees.

Naves gets out of the groove, makes a move to the left and almost crosses the centerline. Rochon is out of power about 1000 feet down and slows.

Left Lane: Jeff Jones Runs 5.677/212.16, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.977/200.02, Was #9
Right Lane: Rob Pfeister Runs 10.740/76.55, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.176/187.91, Was #10

Pfeister rattles the tires, makes a move to the left and backs off the throttle. Jones started moving around late in the run and had to pedal. he improves but not enough to move up in the order.

Left Lane: Dan Pomponio Runs 5.568/260.86, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.611/260.61, Was #8
Right Lane: Tyler Scott Runs 6.931/117.14, Now #12; Best prior run: 21.613/42.82, Was #14

Pomponio goes right down the groove and improves but not enough to move up in the order. Scott improves and moves up to the 12th spot.

Left Lane: Andy Bohl Runs 13.330/62.04, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.514/271.41, Was #5

Bohl hits the throttle and makes a hard move toward the wall. He backs off the throttle quickly and steers the car back to the center of the lane.

Left Lane: DJ Cox Jr. Runs 5.471/267.43, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.487/267.27, Was #4
Right Lane: Bryan Brown Runs 5.482/270.64, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.551/257.28, Was #7

A good side-by-side, both right down the groove. Cox improves a little but not enough to move in the order. Brown improves and moves up to the fifth spot.

Left Lane: Annie Whiteley Runs 5.404/273.16, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.415/272.56, Was #2
Right Lane: Phil Burkart Runs 11.125/75.34, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.524/273.39, Was #7

Burkart shook the tires at the hit, the rear of the car started moving around, then he clicks it off about 300 feet out. Whiteley goes right down the groove with the quickest pass of the day to go to the top of the order.

Left Lane: Sean Bellemeur Runs 11.646/89.25, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.407/272.12, Was #2
Right Lane: Ulf Leanders Runs 10.489/80.18, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.438/270.97, Was #3

Bellemeur rattles the tires at the hit, makes a move toward the wal and clicks it off. Leanders had traction problems and was off the throttle early.
