POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 53rd annual Auto Club NHRA Finals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Angie Smith Runs 12.934/60.94, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.927/193.60, Was #9

11:57 a.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 72 degrees, relative humidity 48 percent, barometer 28.86 inches, adjusted altitude 2,678 feet, track temperature 101 degrees.

Chip Ellis is number one at 6.805 and Luke Crowley is on the bump spot at 7.294.

Smith leaves hard and the goes up on the rev limiter at the 2-3 shift.

Left Lane: Lance Bonham Runs 7.610/176.70, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.152/187.94, Was #15
Right Lane: Ryan Oehler Runs 7.002/188.17, Now #15; Best prior run: 8.168/113.09, Was #17

Bonham's Buell leaves hard and starts a steady move towards the center line going down the track. He just stays off the paint and slows.

Oehler finally gets a full pass and bumps into the field.

Ryan Oehler's incremental times: 60ft-1.059 sec., 330ft-2.885, 660ft-4.443/156.57 mph, 1,000ft-5.816.

Left Lane: Freddie Camarena Runs 6.955/195.11, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.985/194.30, Was #14
Right Lane: Jerry Savoie Runs 6.885/193.79, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.925/192.63, Was #8

Two clean passes and both riders move up the ladder.

Savoie to #7 and Camarena to #14.

Freddie Camarena's incremental times: 60ft-1.094 sec., 330ft-2.916, 660ft-4.458/158.89 mph, 1,000ft-5.805.
Jerry Savoie's incremental times: 60ft-1.045 sec., 330ft-2.854, 660ft-4.386/159.29 mph, 1,000ft-5.729.

Left Lane: Matt Smith Runs 6.953/192.85, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.970/195.31, Was #14
Right Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 7.137/190.89, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.932/191.89, Was #10

Lance Bonham is on the bump spot at 7.152.

Smith continues to struggle, but is able to move a couple of spots on the ladder.

Clean pass for Stoffer, but the bike slows a little.

Matt Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.104 sec., 330ft-2.910, 660ft-4.444/159.34 mph, 1,000ft-5.792.
Karen Stoffer's incremental times: 60ft-1.152 sec., 330ft-3.036, 660ft-4.598/156.99 mph, 1,000ft-5.964.

Left Lane: Katie Sullivan Runs 9.077/91.64, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.967/191.02, Was #14
Right Lane: Luke Crowley Runs 7.234/189.68, Now #17; Best prior run: 7.294/188.94, Was #17

Crowley takes the long way to the finish line and will not improve enough to get back into the field. One more try later.

Sullivan bike was clean until right before half track and she slows.

Left Lane: Hector Arana Jr Runs 6.828/198.15, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.953/194.94, Was #11
Right Lane: Joey Gladstone Runs 6.873/193.79, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.905/193.68, Was #8

Two strong passes and Arana definitely has more power. He takes his Buell up eight spots on the ladder to the #3 spot.

Gladstone runs well too in the worse weather conditions to pick up a spot to #7.

Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 6.898/193.60, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.878/193.96, Was #8
Right Lane: Scotty Pollacheck Runs 6.839/195.08, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.862/193.38, Was #6

Two strong passes and Johnson runs close to yesterday's best.

Pollacheck finds some tune up and moves up a spot on the ladder.

Steve Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-1.054 sec., 330ft-2.862, 660ft-4.399/159.38 mph, 1,000ft-5.743.
Scotty Pollacheck's incremental times: 60ft-1.047 sec., 330ft-2.841, 660ft-4.364/160.44 mph, 1,000ft-5.694.

Left Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 6.781/197.68, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.836/195.87, Was #4
Right Lane: LE Tonglet Runs 6.861/195.93, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.861/195.96, Was #6

Krawiec wants the Championship and now gets the new top spot on a clean and straight pass.

Tonglet matches his best from yesterday to stay #6.

Eddie Krawiec's incremental times: 60ft-1.057 sec., 330ft-2.829, 660ft-4.333/162.59 mph, 1,000ft-5.649.
LE Tonglet's incremental times: 60ft-1.063 sec., 330ft-2.865, 660ft-4.388/160.82 mph, 1,000ft-5.719.

Left Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 6.799/197.13, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.817/196.36, Was #3
Right Lane: Chip Ellis Runs 6.885/195.73, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.805/196.53, Was #2

Ellis has a clean looking pass, but slows from yesterday. He was #1 going into the round and ends up #3.

Hines shows H-D power and slides his right in between Ellis and Krawiec for #2.

Andrew Hines' incremental times: 60ft-1.052 sec., 330ft-2.833, 660ft-4.341/161.87 mph, 1,000ft-5.664.
Chip Ellis' incremental times: 60ft-1.078 sec., 330ft-2.880, 660ft-4.407/160.38 mph, 1,000ft-5.741.
