Holley National Hot Rod Reunion presented by AAA Insurance Returns to Bowling Green

GLENDORA, Calif. -- The 15th annual Holley National Hot Rod Reunion® presented by AAA Insurance returns to historic Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, Ky., Father’s Day weekend, June 15-17. For three action packed days, the reunion salutes America’s hot rod legends by recognizing the event grand marshal and reunion honorees and featuring thrilling quarter-mile nostalgia drag racing; acres of classic cars and hot rods; a vintage auto parts and memorabilia swap meet; and a huge vendor midway.

The reunion kicks off on Wednesday, June 14 with a Cruise In at the National Corvette Museum located at 350 Corvette Dr. in Bowling Green, Ky. The facility will provide the perfect backdrop for many of the classic cars and hot rods as they gather for the Reunion. The Cruise In is from 4-8 p.m., arrive early and tour the Corvette Museum which is open until 5. The museum’s beverage service, café’ and gift shop will remain open for those wanting drinks, dinner and souvenirs.

The gates open on the 15th annual Holley National Hot Rod Reunion® presented by AAA Insurance on June 15 as the thousands of hot rods, street rods and customs flow into the beautiful green grounds of Beech Bend Raceway for the Axalta Show N’ Shine. Entry for the Show N’ Shine is only $75 for classics and street rods and includes both driver and a guest for all three days. A single day admission is also available for $25.

Quarter-mile nostalgia drag racing will also commence on Thursday and is heavily featured during the weekend. Hot Heads Qualifying, Eliminations, and Saturday’s Final Rounds promise three full days of action as more than 10 nostalgia racing classes including Top Fuel and Funny Cars compete for titles and bragging rights.

Crowds will thrill as a pair of Jet Dragsters blast down the quarter-mile each day driven by Robert Albertson with his Blazing Angel Jet Dragster and Sarah Edwards in her Queen of Diamonds Jet Dragster. Those in attendance will be able to see the vehicles up close alongside other period racing cars as they will be on display all weekend in Memory Lane.

The Holley National Hot Rod Reunion concludes on Saturday with the long standing tradition of the Cacklefest® which features dozens of the finest historic nitro burning race cars, many of them being push started in the time honored tradition of early drag racing. Throughout the reunion spectators will be able to see and hear the cars up close as they are readied in the pits and on the track for their Cacklefest appearances.

The honoree celebration on Friday, after racing concludes, celebrates the individuals and families who are the pioneers and legends of hot rodding. On the occasion of the reunion’s 15th Anniversary, Eileen Daniels will be the Grand Marshall recognizing her more than six decades in hot rodding, drag racing and as part of the NHRA. She married her late husband Bob at age 18 and they were among the first employees of the NHRA in the 1950’s with Bob serving as the first director for NHRA’s Division 3. The couple were instrumental in bringing the first Holley National Hot Rod Reunions to Bowling Green. The grand marshal is joined by 2017 reunion honorees: The Hilton Family, Wayne Jesel, Randy Payne, Mark Williams, and Della Woods.

Tickets for the 15th annual Holley National Hot Rod Reunion® presented by AAA Insurance are on sale now.
