Pro Stock Motorcycle Qualifying Notes, Session #3
By Larry Sullivan

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 45th annual Amalie Oil NHRA Gatornationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Hector Arana Runs 6.991/193.10, Now #13; No Prior Run

12:49 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 71 degrees, relative humidity 53 percent, barometer 29.98 inches, adjusted altitude 1,304 feet.

Arana had a bad run in the first session yesterday and didn't even make an attempt in the second. Conditions today are not as good, so it will be tough for him to get into the top part of the field.

Clean run, might be good enough to keep him in the field.

Left Lane: Matt Smith Runs 6.880/194.72, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.800/196.96, Was #1

Smith is #1, but had a bad run in the second session and that's what sets the order they run for this session.

Nice run - not as quick as his best yesterday, but that is probably due to conditions.

Matt Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.062 sec., 330ft-2.859, 660ft-4.387/159.55 mph, 1,000ft-5.728.

Both get in for now, those times may not stick.
