Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #2

LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 13th annual NHRA Toyota Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Steven Chrisman Runs 4.776/168.47, Now #13; Best prior run: 10.209/86.90, Was #19
Right Lane: Paul Noakes No Time, Now #20; Best prior run: 11.646/68.74, Was #20

Weather conditions: air temperature 86 degrees, relative humidity 21 percent, barometer 27.91 inches, adjusted altitude 4,587 feet.

Chrisman doubled stepped it and then clicked it off early. Noakes didn't get staged and was timed out.

Left Lane: T.J. Zizzo Runs 3.878/310.84, Now #4; Best prior run: 8.708/81.83, Was #17
Right Lane: Troy Buff Runs 3.925/305.98, Now #7; Best prior run: 10.145/71.19, Was #19

Zizzo launched hard and was straight down the groove to go to the number four spot. T.J. Zizzo's incremental times: 60ft-0.847 sec., 330ft-2.164, 660ft-3.096/270.81 mph. Buff with a good clean pass to get in the show. Troy Buff's incremental times: 60ft-0.862 sec., 330ft-2.211, 660ft-3.139/272.06 mph.

Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.827/324.20, Now #2; Best prior run: 8.049/79.56, Was #18
Right Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 9.799/74.72, Now #19; Best prior run: 9.308/76.15, Was #19

Millican with the header flames shooting high over the rear wing and keeps it hitting on all eight to go to the number two spot. Clay Millican's incremental times: 60ft-0.849 sec., 330ft-2.169, 660ft-3.077/279.15 mph. Torrence was up in smoke as soon as he hit the throttle and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.820/317.94, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.666/75.06, Was #18
Right Lane: Khalid alBalooshi Runs 3.866/311.56, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.461/91.94, Was #17

Brown with great pass as he keep it hitting on all eight and the Goodyears stuck all the way down the track. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.853 sec., 330ft-2.154, 660ft-3.060/279.04 mph. alBalooshi was on a great pass until right in the lights when it had a big explosion. The word from the top end is there is oil on the track.

Left Lane: Brittany Force Runs 3.834/317.64, Now #4; Best prior run: 4.509/172.83, Was #17
Right Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 3.873/321.12, Now #8; Best prior run: 4.441/185.64, Was #16

This was a good side-by-side drag race...Force with a great looking pass to go to the number four spot. Brittany Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.850 sec., 330ft-2.167, 660ft-3.076/280.84 mph. McMillen with a real nice pass to get in the show. Terry McMillen's incremental times: 60ft-0.864 sec., 330ft-2.208, 660ft-3.119/279.96 mph.

Left Lane: Billy Torrence Runs 3.862/317.87, Now #7; Best prior run: 4.094/305.77, Was #16
Right Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 6.324/105.93, Now #17; Best prior run: 4.144/215.20, Was #17

Torrence launched hard and keep it hooked up to get in the show. Billy Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.863 sec., 330ft-2.181, 660ft-3.099/275.67 mph. Lucas was up in smoke early and clicked it off.

Left Lane: David Grubnic Runs 3.790/306.12, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.990/255.29, Was #15
Right Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 3.821/314.39, Now #4; Best prior run: 4.005/252.05, Was #16

This was a great side-by-side drag race...Grubnic with header flames shooting high into the air all the way down the track. He goes to the number one spot. David Grubnic's incremental times: 60ft-0.847 sec., 330ft-2.148, 660ft-3.038/285.59 mph. Bernstein with a great pass to go to the number four spot. Brandon Bernstein's incremental times: 60ft-0.844 sec., 330ft-2.155, 660ft-3.061/281.48 mph.

Left Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 3.827/316.97, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.889/307.93, Was #14
Right Lane: Sidnei Frigo Runs 4.888/149.00, Now #16; Best prior run: 3.927/304.32, Was #16

Vandergriff with a great pass and he matches his teammate's E.T. but gives up the position based on the slower speed. Bob Vandergriff's incremental times: 60ft-0.852 sec., 330ft-2.169, 660ft-3.068/280.78 mph. Frigo was up in smoke early and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Spencer Massey Runs 3.818/321.65, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.887/312.71, Was #14
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 4.686/161.61, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.857/321.12, Was #9

Massey with a great pass to get in the show and all the way up to the number three spot. Spencer Massey's incremental times: 60ft-0.864 sec., 330ft-2.177, 660ft-3.068/283.79 mph. Kalitta was up in smoke around half track.

Left Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 3.778/324.28, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.799/317.87, Was #2
Right Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.784/324.59, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.845/321.50, Was #9

This was a great side-by-side drag race to wrap up day one. Langdon improves on his number one qualifying E.T. to collect three more qualifying bonus points. Shawn Langdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.841 sec., 330ft-2.142, 660ft-3.035/284.87 mph. Schumacher was right there with him to go to the number two spot. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.846 sec., 330ft-2.155, 660ft-3.041/286.56 mph.
