EARLVILLE, Iowa - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, West Central Division, event at Tri-State Raceway listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Edwin Schmeeckle Runs 5.538/247.88, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.761/220.98, Was #8
Right Lane: Dean Dubbin Runs 39.468/0.00, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.597/242.10, Was #6

1:07 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 83 degrees, relative humidity 60 percent, barometer 28.86 inches, adjusted altitude 29 feet, track temperature 115 degrees.

Randy Meyer is number one at 5.414 and Edwin Schmeeckle is on the bump spot at 5.761.

Dubbin's car isn't happy off the line and quickly goes silent. He pulls over to the guard rail and stops on the track by the 330 lights.

Strong leave for Schmeeckle, but the engine stated to sound funny about the 1000 foot lights and then went BANG in the lights. He doesn't have a chute to boot, but gets it stopped safely in time. The run is good enough to move him up to the current number five spot and push Dubbin down to number seven.

Edwin Schmeeckle's incremental times: 60ft-0.926 sec., 330ft-2.420, 660ft-3.613/206.51 mph, 1,000ft-4.647.

Left Lane: Gord Gingles Runs 16.958/43.78, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.726/237.75, Was #8
Right Lane: Dave Hirata Runs 13.467/84.79, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.493/261.57, Was #4

Dueling smoke fest. Both cars strike the tires hard at the green and shut them off. Gingles tried a pedal pump to no avail. He stays on the bump.

Left Lane: Jared Dreher Runs 5.485/254.33, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.578/247.02, Was #6
Right Lane: Jackie Fricke Runs 5.603/248.02, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.475/252.61, Was #2

Both cars get off the line without issue and Dreher gets a full pass to move three spots up the ladder to the number three spot.

Fricke was on a good pass and then it sounded like a quick pump right after mid-track.

Jared Dreher's incremental times: 60ft-0.955 sec., 330ft-2.480, 660ft-3.625/217.32 mph, 1,000ft-4.614.
Jackie Fricke's incremental times: 60ft-0.943 sec., 330ft-2.515, 660ft-3.722/211.59 mph, 1,000ft-4.719.

Left Lane: Brandon Booher Runs 5.417/266.42, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.488/266.85, Was #4
Right Lane: Randy Meyer Runs 6.034/180.07, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.414/262.28, Was #1

Booher cars a stout 0.894 sixty foot time and powers on down the track to move up into the new #2 spot on a great looking pass.

Meyer was right behind him until near the 330 lights, where the car gets out of the groove and starts to smoke the tires. He tries to drive through it, but the car started to drive hard towards the center line and he had to lift.

Brandon Booher's incremental times: 60ft-0.894 sec., 330ft-2.409, 660ft-3.581/211.56 mph, 1,000ft-4.574.
Randy Meyer's incremental times: 60ft-0.942 sec., 330ft-2.488, 660ft-3.707/205.07 mph, 1,000ft-4.857.
