BROWNSBURG, Ind. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 59th annual Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals:

12:48 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 75 degrees, relative humidity 70 percent, barometer 28.99 inches, adjusted altitude 3,003 feet, track temperature 88 degrees.

Andrew Hines needs a miracle to make the Countdown. He is currently in twelfth place, more than tow rounds behind Steve Johnson. He is the defending event champion.Matt Smith is second in points and the 2006 winner here. Matt has never beaten Andrew in their five opening round matches and is only seven wins to twenty-one loses in prior races.

Hines' engine dies before he can stage and the crew quickly gets it running again. He gets a small head start, but Smith takes the win, as Hines slows.

Matt Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.059 sec., 330ft-2.880, 660ft-4.445/156.06 mph, 1,000ft-5.816.

Steve Johnson won here in 2005 and 2008. This is his 26th Indy race, his first coming in 1987. Steve is trying to hold on to that final spot in the Countdown. He defeated Ray the one time that they met.

Johnson throws away the race with a -0.006 red light. Ray slows from his best in the win.

This is the first time Savoie and Gann have faced each other in eliminations.

Savoie gets the head start and holds off a slowing Gann for the decisive win.

This is the first time Berry and Pollacheck have faced each other in eliminations.

Pollacheck takes the early lead and stays there down the track for the close win. Savoie will have lane choice next round.

LE Tonglet won here in 2010 and he could use that kind of performance today if he wants to make the Countdown. He is more than a round out of tenth place and behind Steve Johnson. This is his best starting spot since the Chicago race in 2011.Dawn Minturn's only other start was at this race last year. She is looking for her first round win.

Big advantage at the green and the quickest ET of the session secure the easy win for Tonglet.

Dawn Minturn's incremental times: 60ft-1.070 sec., 330ft-2.905, 660ft-4.477/155.78 mph, 1,000ft-5.856.

Hector Arana won here in 2009. It is his 22nd #1 spot and his first this year. He has only won twice from the top spot and not since 2009..This is the second time this year Hector has faced his son, Adam, and he beat him in that race at Chicago.

Arana spanks his kid at the green and takes a decisive lead for the win. That gives him lane choice over Smith later today.

This is Eddie Krawiec's best starting spot of the year and only the second time this year he has been in the top half of the field..This is John Hall's second start at Indy, but he hasn't won against Krawiec in their three earlier encounters.

Close leaves and Hall takes the win over a slowing Krawiec and he will have lane choice over Ray in round 2.

Craig Treble is making his first NHRA start since Maple Grove last year and only his second since 2010. Craig won here in 2007..Hector Arana Jr. won here in 2011 and regardless of what happens today he will go into the Countdown in the #1 spot.

Terrific RT for Treble, but Arana has the power to just get on bye near the 1000 ft lights for the close win. Arana gives up lane choice to Tonglet.
