Pro Extreme Qualifying Notes, Session #2

MILLINGTON, Tenn. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Extreme at the 2013 ADRL Tour presented by Speedtech, ADRL Memphis Drags IV listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: John Sullivan Jr Runs 3.898/203.55, Now #16; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Alex Hossler Runs 3.601/210.44, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.684/207.24, Was #4

10:55 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 76 degrees, relative humidity 84 percent, barometer 29.65 inches, adjusted altitude 2,190 feet, track temperature 86 degrees.

There has been talk these cars will be in the '50's tonight.

Hossler gets really close, right down the groove and he gets in the top spot for now.

Left Lane: Stan Allen Runs 3.783/201.49, Now #13; Best prior run: 3.818/191.73, Was #14
Right Lane: Jason Scruggs Runs 3.639/209.65, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.686/207.18, Was #6

Allen runs a career best pass here and moves up to the 13th spot. Scruggs improves but not enough to take the top spot.

Left Lane: John Stanley No Time, Now #12; Best prior run: 3.757/200.56, Was #12
Right Lane: Bubba Stanton Runs 3.642/208.97, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.653/208.42, Was #3

Stanley hits the throttle, moves about five feet and the engine goes silent, not sure why. Stanton makes a clean pass and improves a little but stays in the third spot.

Left Lane: Gene Hector Runs 3.773/198.90, Now #13; Best prior run: 4.617/116.98, Was #21
Right Lane: Von Smith Runs 3.628/210.67, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.669/207.53, Was #4

Smith goes right down the groove with a good run but can't quite take the top spot from Hossler. Hector makes a decent pass to get in the show for now.

Left Lane: Neal Wantye Runs 3.700/205.54, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.863/199.14, Was #16
Right Lane: Brian Dillard Runs 4.197/178.73, Now #20; Best prior run: 4.240/179.33, Was #20

Wantye does a great driving job, first moving to the right, then back to the left and heading for the wall. He stays on the throttle and improves from his earlier attempt to get off the bump and into the seventh spot. Dillard had problems early and had to pedal.

Left Lane: Mick Snyder Runs 3.674/206.89, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.715/205.63, Was #9
Right Lane: Danny Lowry Runs 3.868/202.18, Now #17; Best prior run: 4.679/118.59, Was #22

Snyder gets out of the groove but stays on the throttle and improves to the fifth spot. Lowry's car was smoking all the way through the run, improves on his earlier attempt, but doesn't get in the show.

Left Lane: Richard Holt Runs 4.278/142.15, Now #20; Best prior run: 4.163/186.36, Was #20
Right Lane: Tommy D'Aprile Runs 3.657/206.35, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.738/205.26, Was #11

D'Aprile improves and moves up to the fifth spot. Holt has problems late in the run and the car noses over.

Left Lane: Joey Martin Runs 3.626/216.27, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.702/202.30, Was #10
Right Lane: Brandon Snider Runs 4.235/141.06, Now #16; Best prior run: 3.797/178.14, Was #16

Snider loses traction early and has to pedal. Martin was out of shape all the way through the run but still makes his quickest pass of the year to move into the second spot.

Left Lane: Bil Clanton Runs 3.922/183.54, Now #20; Best prior run: 4.270/165.38, Was #22
Right Lane: Mike Recchia Runs 3.671/207.88, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.716/103.43, Was #23

Recchia makes a career best pass and moves up to the seventh spot. Clanton makes his quickest pass of the year but still doesn't get in the show.

Left Lane: Monte Grace Runs 4.089/171.77, Now #22; Best prior run: 6.864/70.38, Was #26
Right Lane: Todd Martin Runs 3.635/208.84, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.684/207.11, Was #10

Martin was moving around early in the run but he hangs on and makes a career best pass to move into the fourth spot. Grace makes a clean pass but is still way off the pace.

Left Lane: Randell Reid Runs 4.409/138.31, Now #25; Best prior run: 5.775/92.99, Was #25
Right Lane: Steve George Runs 4.223/135.51, Now #21; Best prior run: 3.948/187.65, Was #21

Reid gets out of shape early in the run and backs off the throttle. George gets about 400 feet out and the engine erupts in flames. The flames continue to burn as he makes his way down track, then the car makes a move to the left in front of the slowing Reid. Reid is able to come to a stop and avoid George. George spins around in the middle of the shutdown area and comes to a stop.

Word from the top end is that both drivers are out of the vehicles.

Left Lane: Brandon Pesz Runs 3.649/209.75, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.717/206.92, Was #12
Right Lane: Tim Tindle Runs 3.702/202.21, Now #13; Best prior run: 3.757/204.29, Was #13

12:31 a.m. and we are back after about an hour cleanup.

Two good passes, both right down the groove. Pesz makes his quickest pass of the year to move up to the seventh spot, Tindle improves but not enough to get out of the 13th spot.

Right Lane: Todd Tutterow Runs 3.862/184.62, Now #18; Best prior run: 6.486/81.08, Was #26

Tutterow had to pedal a couple of times and doesn't improve enough to get in the show. Stan Allen is on the bump spot at 3.783.

Right Lane: Frankie Taylor Runs 3.612/209.69, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.683/207.88, Was #11

Taylor goes right down the groove with his quickest pass of the year and moves all the way to the second spot to end this session.
