Top Alcohol Dragster Qualifying Notes, Final Session

WOODBURN, Ore. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Northwest Division, Les Schwab Challenge at Woodburn Dragstrip listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Right Lane: Jeff Ashwell Runs 6.014/233.82, Now #7; Best prior run: 17.585/35.07, Was #9

5:35 pm. Ashwell is trying to get into his first ever TAD race. He goes about 400ft started shaking, he pedals it and then gets into the field for now.

Jeff Ashwell's incremental times: 60ft-0.951 sec., 330ft-2.458, 660ft-3.828/169.20 mph, 1,000ft-5.038.

Left Lane: Gregg Lawrence Runs 5.594/250.13, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.517/258.24, Was #6
Right Lane: Joey Severance Runs 5.406/223.93, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.894/100.85, Was #9

Megan McKernan is on the bump spot at 6.557. Severance is not yet in the show. Joey gets in the show, but he hurt another blower as he popped the burst panel in the lights. Lawrence didn't make any improvement on his earlier time.

Gregg Lawrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.995 sec., 330ft-2.554, 660ft-3.730/214.03 mph, 1,000ft-4.723.
Joey Severance's incremental times: 60ft-0.918 sec., 330ft-2.354, 660ft-3.487/218.39 mph, 1,000ft-4.466.

Left Lane: Duane Shields Runs 5.449/264.08, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.500/262.62, Was #6
Right Lane: Megan McKernan Runs 5.472/263.23, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.557/155.41, Was #9

Jeff Ashwell is on the bump spot at 6.014. McKernan has just been bumped out of the show. A pair of great runs. Shields runs his best run of the weekend as he has no tire shake and kept all the cylinders lit. McKernan on the other side had a near flawless run, but started mixing up cylinders around 1200ft.

Duane Shields' incremental times: 60ft-0.967 sec., 330ft-2.511, 660ft-3.658/220.91 mph, 1,000ft-4.615.
Megan McKernan's incremental times: 60ft-0.982 sec., 330ft-2.521, 660ft-3.666/219.72 mph, 1,000ft-4.634.

Left Lane: Garrett Bateman Runs 5.476/266.42, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.418/267.77, Was #4
Right Lane: Ray Martin Runs 5.624/263.46, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.448/267.85, Was #5

Martin shakes the tires he pedals it and does get the car to recover but he has to do a lot of driving to keep it in his lane. Bateman makes another solid pass. These guys will be racing each other tomorrow in first round.

Garrett Bateman's incremental times: 60ft-0.970 sec., 330ft-2.515, 660ft-3.678/215.41 mph, 1,000ft-4.643.
Ray Martin's incremental times: 60ft-0.946 sec., 330ft-2.504, 660ft-3.741/203.25 mph, 1,000ft-4.769.

Left Lane: Chris Demke Runs 13.734/53.11, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.397/270.18, Was #2
Right Lane: Shawn Cowie Runs 5.350/269.86, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.334/269.78, Was #1

The Cowie team proved earlier today that they have picked up right where they left off 2 years ago. Demke really wants that #1 spot though on the ladder. Demke shakes hard and he lifts. Cowie with yet another stellar pass and he will be the man to beat on race day.

Shawn Cowie's incremental times: 60ft-0.955 sec., 330ft-2.391, 660ft-3.536/216.13 mph, 1,000ft-4.518.
