CLEVES, Ohio -- The first leg of the Buckeye S/SS Southern (Ohio) Swing was contested at Edgewater Sports Park in Cleves Ohio. Thirty racers showed up prepared to battle it out and compete for the title and a shot of the Heads Up! Double Up cash sponsored by Dave and Dede Layer from Heads Up Cylinder Heads.

The Dial for Dollars sponsored by Mid Ohio Paving was won by Tom Reese driving his M/SA Camaro. $100 was collected for the win.

First round there were 28 cars that did battle after a couple entries broke.Dave Dupps Jr. driving his SS/KA Camaro was .006 and ran 10.375 on a 10.35 dial in for the Parsons & Myers Racing Engines sponsored Best First Round Winning Package $100 bonus.

Many racers were having trouble getting hold of the track surface but after round one there were 14 left. The second round progressed and almost every car was spinning or just blew the tires off (except for the Cadillac Stocker and maybe one or two others).

It was then decided to speak to the remaining racers to see if the majority wanted to continue or call it quits and split the money. The majority were in favor of ending the racing for the night and splitting the money. This was done from the perspective of safety as well as fairness to complete on a level playing field.

The racing stopped at that point. Nitro Joe will figure points based rounds at this race.
