Pro Mod Qualifying Notes, Final Session
By Larry Sullivan

PETERSBURG, Va. - Notes from final, round 2 qualifying in Aeromotive Fuel Systems Pro Mod at the 2013 ADRL Tour presented by Speedtech, Simply Phones U.S. Drags VI listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Kevin Rivenbark Runs 3.954/185.26, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.024/185.74, Was #6
Right Lane: Todd Howard Runs 5.125/100.48, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.990/188.86, Was #4

8:46 p.m. The two Junior Dragster classes, along with Top Sportsman and Top Dragster, will have their final qualifying sessions at 10 a.m. Sunday, allowing the Pro categories to run their final qualifying tonight.

Rivenbark improved nicely over his first run today, moving way up the ladder. Howard went the other way, shaking and slowing.

Left Lane: Raymond Matos Runs 3.976/171.77, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.962/190.11, Was #3
Right Lane: Adam Flamholc Runs 3.963/189.63, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.986/188.83, Was #4

Matos flirted with the wall and may have clicked it off a little early, killing some speed. Flamholc went right down the groove, but didn't improve enough to move up the ladder.

Left Lane: Jimmy Keen Runs 3.913/190.70, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.013/188.28, Was #6
Right Lane: Dan Stevenson Runs 4.469/155.81, Now #9; Best prior run: 8.452/69.88, Was #12

Rickie Smith was on the bump spot at 4.199 when these two staged, Stevenson needing to beat that time to get into the field. It didn't happen, Stevenson's header flames sputtering and intermittent. Meanwhile, Keen improved by a full tenth to move up to the #1 spot.

Left Lane: Tim Savell Runs 3.929/191.27, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.928/192.69, Was #2
Right Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 4.012/190.81, Now #7; Best prior run: 4.199/148.05, Was #8

Savell was just bumped off the top spot and Smith was in a precarious position.

Smith's car made a move to the left and he tiptoed down the line to improve by over a tenth and get off the bump spot. Savell's car has been very coinsistent so far, two runs within a thousandth of each other.

Now Larry Higginbottham is on the bump spot at 4.111 - but he hasn't made his second run yet..

Left Lane: Travis Harvey Runs 3.912/189.58, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.385/86.75, Was #12
Right Lane: Jeff Lutz Runs 4.046/194.49, Now #9; Best prior run: 4.778/188.28, Was #10

These two both needed to beat Higginbotham's time to get into the field.

Both of them did just that, but Harvey bumped Higginbotham, making Smith's 4.012 the new bump time and Lutz did not beat that.

Left Lane: Larry Higginbottham Runs 4.106/175.62, Now #10; Best prior run: 4.111/167.53, Was #10
Right Lane: L.J. Wood Jr. Runs 5.172/127.56, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.087/128.96, Was #12

Both of these drivers will have to run career-bests to beat Smith's time and get into the field.

Nope. Neither driver ran a career-best and neither will be in eliminations tomorrow. Smith survived and will face the #1 qualifier (Harvey) in round one.
