Pro Extreme Qualifying Notes, Session #1
By Larry Sullivan

PETERSBURG, Va. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Extreme at the 2013 ADRL Tour presented by Speedtech, Simply Phones U.S. Drags VI listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Gene Hector Runs 5.197/96.08, Now #2
Right Lane: Neal Wantye Runs 3.829/198.15, Now #1

8:04 p.m. This has been a long round of qualifying, almost four hours ago the new Pro Drag Radial cars got their first runs in ADRL competition.

There are only fourteen Pro Extreme cars here, so all will be in eliminations tomorrow.

Hector's car shook on the launch and one of his chutes deployed. Wantye made a good, clean run.

Left Lane: Todd Tutterow Runs 3.798/204.17, Now #1
Right Lane: Brandon Snider Runs 6.632/83.62, Now #4

Snider made some strong runs at Cordova, but his first run here, was characterized by lots of shake, so much that he lifted. Meanwhile, Tutterow made a very nice opening pass, the first in the 3.7s and over 200 mph today.

Left Lane: Jason Scruggs Runs 3.634/208.04, Now #1
Right Lane: John Stanley Runs 3.695/206.26, Now #2

Scruggs made an almost-perfect run and Stanley was right there with him all the way down the track.

Jason Scruggs' incremental times: 60ft-0.903 sec., 330ft-2.441.
John Stanley's incremental times: 60ft-0.954 sec., 330ft-2.496. That's only four thousandths slower than Stanley's career-best run.

Left Lane: Von Smith Runs 8.659/48.69, Now #8
Right Lane: Larry Jeffers Runs 5.694/87.70, Now #6

Both cars pedaled and shook.

Left Lane: Alex Hossler Runs 3.594/209.56, Now #1
Right Lane: Danny Lowry Runs 5.764/88.54, Now #8

Hossler once again had everyone's jaw on the ground with this run - it was visibly better than anything we'd seen so far today and good enough to back a new record if he can go a bit quicker in the next session. Lowry shook and slowed.

Alex Hossler's incremental times: 60ft-0.895 sec., 330ft-2.416.

Left Lane: Mick Snyder Runs 3.680/203.40, Now #3
Right Lane: Joey Martin Runs 7.020/83.33, Now #11

Nice run by Snyder, but it pales by comparison with Hossler's. Martin shook and slowed immediately.

Left Lane: Bubba Stanton Runs 7.018/68.03, Now #12
Right Lane: Tommy D'Aprile Runs 3.648/206.92, Now #3

Great run by D'Aprile. Stanton shook and slowed.

That completes the first round of qualifying for all classes.
