Extreme Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Session #1
By Larry Sullivan

PETERSBURG, Va. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Extreme Pro Stock at the 2013 ADRL Tour presented by Speedtech, Simply Phones U.S. Drags VI listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Brian Gahm Runs 8.911/70.23, Now #2
Right Lane: John Montecalvo Runs 4.145/175.52, Now #1

6:48 p.m. Montecalvo is sticking with "his old car," feels it is more predictable in response to tuning changes.

Gahm shook hard, got sideways, and lifted. Montecalvo made a strong, straight run to set the mark to beat.

Left Lane: Vincent Nobile No Time, Now #4
Right Lane: Bradley Waddle Runs 10.828/39.47, Now #3

Nobile is in Larry O'Brien's Avenger this weekend, his first outing in a "mountain motored" Pro Stock.

Nobile's car made a hard move to the right on the launch and he crossed the centerline, taking out the timing reflector on his way back to the left lane. Waddle was not involved because he shook hard and slowed almost immediately.

Left Lane: Elijah Morton Runs 4.640/120.72, Now #3
Right Lane: Richard Penland Runs 4.477/147.78, Now #2

Both left hard, both had to lift early to stay in their own lane.

Left Lane: Pete Berner Runs 7.835/57.31, Now #5
Right Lane: Lester Cooper Runs 4.170/172.28, Now #2

Berner spun hard, headed for the centerline, and he lifted. Cooper went right down the groove and into the #2 sp[ot.

Left Lane: Doug Kirk Runs 8.087/76.66, Now #7
Right Lane: Kevin Bealko Runs 5.505/89.87, Now #5

Kirk shook and slowed immediately. Bealko got almost to the 330-foot marker, then he did the same.

Left Lane: John Pluchino Runs 4.177/173.70, Now #3
Right Lane: John Deflorian Jr. Runs 7.777/68.43, Now #7

Deflorian's car shook and made a hard move toward the wal. He lifted. Pluchino went right down the groove on a nice run.

Left Lane: Cary Goforth Runs 6.912/86.83, Now #8
Right Lane: Scott Hintz Runs 4.108/177.18, Now #1

Goforth shook and slowed immediately. Hintz was dialed in perfetly and he went right down the groove and right into the #1 spot - by four hundredths.

Right Lane: Dean Goforth Runs 4.123/177.18, Now #2

Nice run, but not quite quick enough for #1. Goforth matched Hintz' speed exactly.

Right Lane: Trevor Eman Runs 4.114/175.91, Now #2

The Cordova winner is the last car of the session. There are sixteen cars here for a sixteen-car field, so they will all get to run tomorrow (assuming Nobile makes a legal run in the final session).

Eman just missed the #1 spot with a nice run, the car smooth and straight.
