BAYTOWN, Texas - Results of round 1 eliminations in Pro Stock at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 26th annual O'Reilly NHRA Spring Nationals presented by Super Start Batteries:

Gaines is 1 - 0 against Jones in prior events. Jones with a big starting line advantage and never trailed as Gaines had severe tire shake right at the hit. Jones with his quickest pass of the weekend.

This is the first time McGaha and Gray have faced each other in eliminations. This is Shane Gray's best start since he was #2 at Englishtown in 2011. McGaha turns on the red light and Gray move on to round two. He will give up lane choice to A. Johnson in the next round.

Jeg Coughlin qualified #1 for the 18th time in his career. He has four wins from the top spot and only two in his last fourteen times as #1..He is 15-2 in first round matches when he is #1. Kent goes red and Coughlin gets the freebie into the next round. coughlin will give up lane choice to Jones in the next round.
