DINWIDDIE, Va. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Northeast Division, event at Virginia Motorsports Park listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Right Lane: Eric Lourie Runs 5.782/248.52, Now #1

4:04 p.m. - Lourie had a smooth run down the track to put himself into the field. There are less than eight funny cars here this weekend so he has now chance of being bumped.

Left Lane: John Anderika Runs 5.637/254.90, Now #1
Right Lane: Mickey Ferro Runs 5.637/254.90, Now #2

Both drivers had good runs to take over the top two spots in the order for now.

Left Lane: Todd Veney Runs 5.771/249.44, Now #4
Right Lane: Dan Pomponio Runs 5.694/254.33, Now #3

That's it for the first session of qualifying. Veney and Pomponi had clean runs down the track. Pomponio was a bit quicker.
