2:31 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 72 degrees, relative humidity 35 percent, barometer 29.58 inches, adjusted altitude 1,449 feet, track temperature 109 degrees.

Worsham gets a big RT advantage, but Garten pulls a rabbit out of his hat and flies on by and just pulls steadily ahead for the win.

Best ET of the weekend for Garten. The car started to drift towards the wall, but he drove it back into the groove.

Roger Garten's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.009), 330 ft(0.054), 660ft(0.056), 1,000ft(0.028). MOV: 0.0158 seconds (approximately 6 feet).

Boychuk is away first and has Rupert pace him for a while. Rupert's car slows right after the 330 lights and gives the win to Boychuk. There was a lot of smoke from the car in the lights and the top end crew reported pieces banging off the wall in the lights, but no oils

Tim Boychuk's incremental margins: 60ft(0.038), 330 ft(0.252), 660ft(1.173), 1,000ft(2.518). MOV: 4.0718 seconds (more than 100 feet).

Jason Rupert's incremental times: 60ft-1.010 sec., 330ft-2.832, 660ft-5.005/100.49 mph, 1,000ft-7.427.

3111 Chad Head 496 John Hale
E2 ****WINNER**** 0.081 5.709 254.18 0.180 9.057 98.63
 Prior rounds:
E1 (W Martin ) 0.104 5.752 253.09 (D LaCharite ) 0.144 5.818 248.98
 Qualified: #4 5.792 252.66 #5 5.823 245.49
Hale is late off the line and then has the tires start to smoke. He stays with it too long and gets the car way loose before clicking it off.

Terrific run for Head. He takes a big lead at the green and drives the Firebird down the track for his best pass of the weekend and lane choice over Boychuk next round.

Chad Head's incremental margins: 60ft(0.139), 330 ft(0.387), 660ft(1.098), 1,000ft(2.177). MOV: 3.4470 seconds (more than 100 feet).

Chad Head's incremental times: 60ft-0.978 sec., 330ft-2.560, 660ft-3.780/202.61 mph, 1,000ft-4.826.

728 Ron Capps 6006 Mark Sanders
E2 0.169 6.239 219.19 ****WINNER**** 0.188 5.863 238.55
 Prior rounds:
E1 (G Bateman ) 0.137 5.838 244.92 (D Horan ) 0.155 5.765 251.53
 Qualified: #2 5.735 245.90 #10 5.884 249.12
Capps gets a small advantage off the line and then shakes and spins right around the 330 lights and lifts.

Sanders gets the win, but it looks expensive, as there is a lot of smoke from both cars down track.

Garten will have lane choice next round.

Mark Sanders' incremental times: 60ft-0.997 sec., 330ft-2.606, 660ft-3.863/194.18 mph, 1,000ft-4.943.
