Capps is 5 - 2 against Force in prior events and this is the first time they have faced each other in a final round. Force was the number one qualifier and has a 1-3 win/loss record, so far. Capps qualified number six and is 38-39 win/loss. He has lane choice coming into the round. The sun is down now and the header flames are strong on the line at the green. Capps gets a tiny 0.005 starting line advantage and stays out in front until right after the sixty foot lights. He has to pump the pedal a bunch to try to settle the car down to no avail. Force is on a mission and powers on down the track, running the quickest pass of the weekend. It wasn't easy, as the Mustang started to drift steadily towards the center line down track and just puts a tire on the stripe right after the 1000 foot lights.
