Smith is 2 - 1 against Pruett in prior events. Pruett with the starting line advantage and never trailed as Smith was up in smoke right at the hit. That puts an end to Smith's Championship hopes.

This is the first time Commisso and Walsh have faced each other in eliminations. Commisso goes red and then Walsh guns the quickest pass of the round for the win and lane choice over Pruett in the semifinal. Raymond Commisso's incremental times: 60ft-0.999 sec., 330ft-2.640, 660ft-3.935/192.66 mph, 1,000ft-5.026.
