LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 12th annual Big O Tires NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Jay Payne Runs 5.723/255.43, Now #7; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Johann Wernhart Runs 6.088/195.03, Now #14; Best prior run: 15.689/59.55, Was #19

Payne launched hard and keep it hooked up all the way down the 1320 to get into the top half of the show. Jay Payne's incremental times: 60ft-0.965 sec., 330ft-2.553, 660ft-3.793/201.55 mph, 1,000ft-4.841. Wernhart with a lot of engine smoke right in the lights, but gets in the show and the word from the top end is it is all clear.

Left Lane: Mike Drake Runs 9.320/96.35, Now #18; Best prior run: 14.589/56.33, Was #19
Right Lane: Russ Parker Runs 6.390/176.97, Now #17; Best prior run: 15.687/20.66, Was #20

Drake shook and clicked it off...Parker made a move in the right direction, but will not get in the show.

Left Lane: Keeter Ray Runs 5.690/252.80, Now #4; Best prior run: 10.707/111.89, Was #20
Right Lane: Charles McLaws Runs 5.749/254.14, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.091/251.30, Was #15

Ray launched hard and keep it hooked up and goes to the number four spot. Keeter Ray's incremental times: 60ft-0.969 sec., 330ft-2.525, 660ft-3.751/202.15 mph, 1,000ft-4.800. McLaws with his career quickest and fastest pass to go to the number 10 spot. Charles McLaws' incremental times: 60ft-1.021 sec., 330ft-2.591, 660ft-3.818/201.13 mph, 1,000ft-4.864.

Left Lane: Tony Bartone Runs 5.570/262.39, Now #1; Best prior run: 9.514/99.29, Was #20
Right Lane: Kris Hool Runs 5.755/257.53, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.833/252.00, Was #15

Bartone with a great pass to go to the number one spot...Tony Bartone's incremental times: 60ft-0.971 sec., 330ft-2.507, 660ft-3.699/208.46 mph, 1,000ft-4.712. Hool makes a move in the right direction moving up the ladder three spots. Kris Hool's incremental times: 60ft-1.044 sec., 330ft-2.618, 660ft-3.841/202.45 mph, 1,000ft-4.880.

Left Lane: Ross Stickler Runs 6.319/167.74, Now #18; Best prior run: 6.276/166.03, Was #18
Right Lane: Doug Gordon Runs 5.640/257.28, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.798/254.18, Was #15

Gordon with a great pass to get in the top half of the show. Doug Gordon's incremental times: 60ft-0.969 sec., 330ft-2.516, 660ft-3.731/203.68 mph, 1,000ft-4.765. Strickler with a pop on the top end and slows.

Left Lane: Jason Rupert Runs 5.788/251.34, Now #16; Best prior run: 5.807/252.00, Was #16
Right Lane: Mickey Ferro Runs 5.694/251.53, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.770/248.16, Was #14

Rupert improves, but not enough to get off the bump spot. Jason Rupert's incremental times: 60ft-0.968 sec., 330ft-2.570, 660ft-3.827/197.97 mph, 1,000ft-4.892. Ferro was straight down the groove to get into the top half of the show. Mickey Ferro's incremental times: 60ft-0.958 sec., 330ft-2.517, 660ft-3.748/200.92 mph, 1,000ft-4.801.

Left Lane: John Evanchuk Runs 8.655/108.87, Now #15; Best prior run: 5.780/250.32, Was #15
Right Lane: Sean Bellemeur Runs 5.739/252.24, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.726/252.47, Was #12

Evanchuk gets out of the groove early and clicks it off. Bellemeur with another good pass, but will not improve. Sean Bellemeur's incremental times: 60ft-0.980 sec., 330ft-2.556, 660ft-3.794/200.47 mph, 1,000ft-4.847.

Left Lane: Steve Gasparrelli Runs 5.626/258.62, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.707/253.80, Was #9
Right Lane: Mark Woznichak Runs 5.658/255.43, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.713/252.43, Was #10

Gasparrelli launched hard and was straight down the groove to go to the number four spot. Steve Gasparrelli's incremental times: 60ft-0.962 sec., 330ft-2.513, 660ft-3.725/203.77 mph, 1,000ft-4.756. Woznichak moves into the top half of the field with a nice pass. Mark Woznichak's incremental times: 60ft-0.966 sec., 330ft-2.517, 660ft-3.737/202.55 mph, 1,000ft-4.778.

Left Lane: Clint Thompson Runs 5.654/256.80, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.590/259.01, Was #3
Right Lane: John Lombardo Jr. Runs 5.630/257.19, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.704/255.53, Was #10

Lombardo Jr. with a great pass to get in the top half of the show. John Lombardo Jr.'s incremental times: 60ft-0.961 sec., 330ft-2.513, 660ft-3.725/203.74 mph, 1,000ft-4.757. Thompson with another good pass, but will not improve. Clint Thompson's incremental times: 60ft-0.987 sec., 330ft-2.536, 660ft-3.745/205.16 mph, 1,000ft-4.777.

Left Lane: Annie Whiteley Runs 5.639/256.26, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.571/259.36, Was #2

Whiteley with another great pass, fourth quickest pass of the round. Annie Whiteley's incremental times: 60ft-0.954 sec., 330ft-2.508, 660ft-3.724/203.98 mph, 1,000ft-4.762. Westerfield shook hard and clicked it off.
