Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #1

MOHNTON, Pa. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 28th annual Auto-Plus NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Right Lane: Rit Pustari Runs 4.340/201.04, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 79 degrees, relative humidity 52 percent, barometer 29.46 inches, adjusted altitude 2,554 feet, track temperature 104 degrees.

Pustari was on a good pass until around half track when it pitched the blower belt.

Left Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 3.835/315.71, Now #1
Right Lane: Ike Maier Runs 4.825/156.99, Now #3

Maier was on a good pass until just before half track when it started dropping cylinders. Dixon launched hard and hooked up all the way down the track with his quickest and fastest pass of the season, now of course this is only his third race this season. Larry Dixon's incremental times: 60ft-0.856 sec., 330ft-2.161, 660ft-3.071/277.83 mph.

Left Lane: Dom Lagana Runs 3.914/309.27, Now #2
Right Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 7.510/91.58, Now #5

McMillen with the pink dragster and it was out of power by 200 feet. Lagana with the special pink theme through a partnership with Liquid EyePro and he launches hard and was straight down the groove. He goes to the number two spot. Dom Lagana's incremental times: 60ft-0.856 sec., 330ft-2.197, 660ft-3.133/273.39 mph.

Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.850/316.97, Now #3
Right Lane: Khalid alBalooshi Runs 3.812/323.58, Now #1

This was a good drag race, a real nice recovery for Millican after his DNQ last week in St. Louis. He goes to the number three spot. Clay Millican's incremental times: 60ft-0.854 sec., 330ft-2.164, 660ft-3.081/274.55 mph. alBalooshi with a great pass, he launched hard and keep it hitting on all eight to go to the number one spot. Khalid alBalooshi's incremental times: 60ft-0.845 sec., 330ft-2.162, 660ft-3.063/283.19 mph.

Left Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 3.913/318.32, Now #5
Right Lane: David Grubnic Runs 3.818/318.77, Now #2

Grubnic with another great pass after qualifying in the number three spot last week he starts here in the number two spot. David Grubnic's incremental times: 60ft-0.845 sec., 330ft-2.157, 660ft-3.058/281.48 mph. Vandergriff with real nice pass to get into the top half of the show. Bob Vandergriff's incremental times: 60ft-0.866 sec., 330ft-2.218, 660ft-3.147/275.73 mph.

Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.789/327.59, Now #1
Right Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.836/282.19, Now #5

Kalitta with the quickest short time of the round and he parlayed that into the quickest pass of the round. He also has a big top end speed, his career best speed. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.839 sec., 330ft-2.154, 660ft-3.048/285.35 mph. Torrence was right there with him until it started dropping cylinders on the top end. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.845 sec., 330ft-2.153, 660ft-3.049/283.19 mph.

Left Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 5.036/142.00, Now #12
Right Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 3.793/323.81, Now #2

Lucas started to smoke the tires early and clicked it off by 300 feet. Bernstein with great pass to go to the number two spot. Brandon Bernstein's incremental times: 60ft-0.848 sec., 330ft-2.142, 660ft-3.044/280.66 mph.

Left Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 3.762/328.38, Now #1
Right Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.792/325.14, Now #3

This was a great drag race...Langdon launched hard and keep the big Goodyear slicks stuck all the way down the track. Langdon with a big top end speed, his career best and the eighth fastest in the 1000-foot era. Shawn Langdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.832 sec., 330ft-2.137, 660ft-3.026/287.96 mph. Schumacher was right there with him to go to the the number three spot. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.847 sec., 330ft-2.158, 660ft-3.049/285.29 mph.

Left Lane: Spencer Massey Runs 3.807/324.90, Now #5
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.844/317.87, Now #10

Brown gets in the show at the number 10 spot. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.848 sec., 330ft-2.166, 660ft-3.080/276.46 mph. Massey with a nice pass to start the weekend in the top half of the show. Spencer Massey's incremental times: 60ft-0.839 sec., 330ft-2.141, 660ft-3.054/278.75 mph.
