Pro Nitrous Qualifying Notes, Final Session
By Larry Sullivan

NORWALK, Ohio - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Pro Nitrous at the American Drag Racing League, ADRL Summit Racing Equipment Ohio Drags VI presented by Mickey Thompson listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: John Hall Runs 6.660/61.11, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.954/188.25, Was #9
Right Lane: Randy Weatherford Runs 3.931/191.87, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.959/189.87, Was #10

12:38 p.m. John Vergotz is on the bump spot at 4.193. With only 17 cars vying for spots on the ladder, somebody is going to miss out.

Hall shook and slowed. Weatherford had a leisurely one-second-plus 60-foot time, but the car went straight and clean after that and he moved up a couple spots on the ladder, into the top half for now.

Left Lane: Jason Harris Runs 3.948/170.02, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.876/191.13, Was #7
Right Lane: Jim Laurita Runs 3.845/194.91, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.850/185.08, Was #5

Laurita improved slightly, but there was a lot of smoke from his car when he lifted. Harris failed to improve and lost 20 mph in speed as well, couldn't see anything obvious except some early dance moves.

Left Lane: Tommy Franklin Runs 6.414/71.90, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.972/185.49, Was #11
Right Lane: Burton Auxier Runs 4.037/188.12, Now #12; Best prior run: 4.102/187.73, Was #13

Auxier pumped the throttle a couple times on this run, still improved. Franklin shook and slowed.

Left Lane: Steve Vick Runs 5.485/79.73, Now #14; Best prior run: 4.129/182.43, Was #14
Right Lane: Robert Mathis Runs 4.047/189.58, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.844/197.31, Was #3

Vick's car was shaking and dancing, then the chutes came out. Mathis made a good-looking run, but did not improve.

Left Lane: Pat Stoken Runs 3.826/196.64, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.836/197.62, Was #1
Right Lane: Stan Allen Runs 3.904/191.70, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.871/192.88, Was #6

Nice runs in both lanes, Stoken improving his hold on the #1 spot.

Left Lane: Rickie Jones Runs 3.849/194.18, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.937/183.89, Was #9
Right Lane: Doug Riesterer Runs 3.781/193.82, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.843/190.86, Was #2

Riesterer resets the track ET record and takes over the #1 spot with a strong statement. Jones also made a good run, will have first-round lane choice. From the top end comes the news, Riesterer sacrificed an engine on that run and we'll be down for a bit while the track crew picks up the pieces

Left Lane: John Camp No Time, Now #15; Best prior run: 4.169/178.40, Was #15
Right Lane: Ray Schuler Runs 4.040/181.79, Now #13; Best prior run: 4.047/181.84, Was #13

Camp's chute popped out during the burnout. His crew radioed him not to back up, but there was no way they could repack the chute in time to make the run.

Schuler made a clean, easy run, improved slightly, stayed 13th.

Left Lane: Bob Rahaim Runs 3.860/195.39, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.844/195.56, Was #4
Right Lane: John Vergotz Runs 5.111/95.02, Now #16; Best prior run: 4.193/181.32, Was #16

Rahaim made a good-looking run, with the chute out right at the stripe. Vergotz shook and slowed.
