NORWALK, Ohio - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Competition Eliminator at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, North Central Division, B'laster Cavalcade of Stars presented by Budweiser listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed this round, amount over/under index this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time, speed & over/under Index, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Jake Savani Runs 9.998/102.12/1.768, Now #25; B/SM Index: 8.23, Prior Best: 10.540/92.86/2.310, Was #25
Right Lane: David Billingsley Runs 8.826/149.51/-0.514, Now #6; L/AA Index: 9.34, Prior Best: 8.809/149.00/-0.531, Was #6

3:18 p.m. The 32-car field is not full, so there is no bump spot.

Savani's car launched and nosed over almost immediately. It perked up a bit, but went silent at half track. Billingsley made a nice, full pass, slightly slower than yesterday.

Bozic got down the track today - he came up light yesterday. Bailey slowed immediately.

Both cars spun the tires hard.

Farrell got in a full pass today and Graves improved slightly.

Bailey was on a strong run, carrying the front wheels almost 100 feet, but he backed off beyond half track, his speed down 60 mph from yesterday. Pontillo had a good launch, but lifted soon after.

Left Lane: Charlie Yannetti Runs 9.180/142.55/-0.440, Now #19; L/AA Index: 9.62, No Prior Run

This was Yannetti's first pass of the weekend.

Left Lane: Greg Kamplain Runs 6.954/191.76/-0.526, Now #8; B/ED Index: 7.48, Prior Best: 7.011/190.19/-0.469, Was #16
Right Lane: Pat Ross Runs 8.085/167.61/-0.495, Now #12; F/A Index: 8.58, Prior Best: 8.069/167.84/-0.511, Was #11

Kamplain improved nicely over yesterday's run, but Ross lost a couple hundredths.

Right Lane: Al Ackerman Runs 8.127/165.94/-0.473, Now #4; F/D Index: 8.60, Prior Best: 8.049/166.17/-0.551, Was #4

This was also Cervelli's first pass of the weekend and a nice one for the DSR cylinder head specialist. Ackerman was off his pace from yesterday, nothing obviously wrong.

Right Lane: Chuck Haubiel Runs 8.167/163.55/-0.593, Now #1; C/SM Index: 8.76, Prior Best: 8.141/162.86/-0.619, Was #1

This was also Lyons' first pass of the event. It was not a good one, over the index. Haubiel could not match his first run, but he was still quickest of the round.

Right Lane: Larry Pritchett Runs 8.133/151.92/-0.507, Now #6; B/SM Index: 8.64, Prior Best: 8.099/152.06/-0.541, Was #6

Like most others, Pritchett lost a few hundredths from yesterday.

Right Lane: Jason Coan Runs 8.147/160.33/-0.563, Now #2; F/ED Index: 8.71, Prior Best: 8.145/159.42/-0.565, Was #2

Coan's car is very consistent, just two thousandths off his first-round pace.

Right Lane: Ray Vierheller Runs 7.455/176.58/-0.465, Now #18; D/DA Index: 7.92, No Prior Run

Vierheller's first pass of the event was okay, but left him in the bottom half of the field.

Right Lane: Frank Affronti Runs 7.775/172.65/-0.535, Now #5; B/EA Index: 8.31, Prior Best: 7.768/171.77/-0.542, Was #5

Affronti ran within a few thousandths of yesterday's run.

Right Lane: Dan Fletcher Runs 12.055/91.19/3.745, Now #9; B/EA Index: 8.31, Prior Best: 7.793/154.56/-0.517, Was #9

Fletcher closes the round with a lot of wheel spin and coasts through.
