9:46 PM Weis is trying to pull off the big upset here...but it's not to be. He comes off the line first and stays ahead until the 330 foot mark. Kalitta then drives around and starts extending his lead. He goes through the lights, the engine explodes in a big ball of flame and leaves the Safety Safari a little extra work to do after the race. A great run for Weis who seems to be improving at every race.
