Brown is 4 - 2 against Langdon in prior events and this is the first time they have faced each other in a final round. They leave within 0.001 of each other and Brown then takes the lead. He pulls steadily ahead all the way down the track until near the finish line, where there was a big flash off the engine and a bunch of smoke. No oil, so his times will stand. Langdon had to pump the throttle before the 330 lights and made a valiant attempt to make up the margin.
