CLERMONT, Ind. - Notes from final, round 5 qualifying in Pro Stock Bike at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 49th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Mike Kovacevich Runs 18.904/35.13, Now #33; Best prior run: 7.482/176.21, Was #33
Right Lane: Brian DeLong Runs 7.546/177.56, Now #31; Best prior run: 7.465/173.61, Was #31

The weather conditions are great and we may see a change in the order in this session. Not with this pair however.

Left Lane: Ryan Schnitz Runs 7.363/180.19, Now #24; Best prior run: 7.361/180.28, Was #24
Right Lane: Wesley Wells Runs 7.647/177.11, Now #29; Best prior run: 7.410/183.82, Was #29

Again no change this deep in the non qualified bikes.

Left Lane: Sean Conner Runs 7.271/182.40, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.358/182.72, Was #23
Right Lane: Lloyd Straus Runs 7.804/182.60, Now #28; Best prior run: 7.375/175.80, Was #28

Now we have some action as Conner bumps into the show at the expense of Blaine Hale.

Left Lane: Keith Dennis Runs 7.337/185.87, Now #21; Best prior run: 7.352/178.38, Was #23
Right Lane: Josh Helvie Runs 7.592/181.81, Now #26; Best prior run: 7.370/178.45, Was #26

Dennis improved but not by enough.

Left Lane: Redell Harris Runs 7.358/182.13, Now #23; Best prior run: 7.351/181.69, Was #23
Right Lane: Keith Freeman Runs 7.413/179.04, Now #25; Best prior run: 7.369/179.97, Was #25

This pair went the wrong way.

Left Lane: Sam Hurwitz Runs 7.490/183.02, Now #22; Best prior run: 7.344/175.84, Was #22
Right Lane: Chris Reuter Runs 7.248/188.17, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.320/180.69, Was #19

A big move for Reuter and he displaces Conner.

Left Lane: Matthew Smith Runs 7.277/186.98, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.329/180.33, Was #20
Right Lane: Blaine Hale Runs 7.228/188.36, Now #11; Best prior run: 7.299/186.85, Was #18

Hale got back in here and deep in the show at that, and that bumped Tommy Grimes.

Left Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 7.353/178.21, Now #20; Best prior run: 7.299/178.85, Was #20
Right Lane: Brian Schultz Runs 7.300/185.64, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.263/187.39, Was #16

No help for either rider and the field stays the same.

Left Lane: Tommy Grimes Jr Runs 7.301/183.22, Now #17; Best prior run: 7.271/183.69, Was #17
Right Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 7.268/187.63, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.251/178.54, Was #15

Grimes was the last rider with a chance to get into the show but he slowed from his earlier effort and will be a spectator on Sunday.

Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 7.286/185.84, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.238/181.81, Was #13
Right Lane: Mike Berry Runs 7.224/183.74, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.217/184.30, Was #10

No help here for either rider.

Left Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 7.251/181.15, Now #12; Best prior run: 7.228/182.13, Was #12
Right Lane: Reggie Showers Runs 7.210/185.51, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.214/188.41, Was #9

Showers moves up from the bottom half to the quick side of the ladder.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 7.205/185.33, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.212/190.14, Was #9
Right Lane: GT Tonglet Runs 7.266/189.92, Now #6; Best prior run: 7.190/184.27, Was #6

Antron follows Reggie's lead and moves into the top half of the field.

Left Lane: Craig Treble Runs 7.264/182.85, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.210/183.44, Was #9
Right Lane: Geno Scali Runs 7.582/148.97, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.188/185.72, Was #5

Both riders slow here.

Left Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 7.173/184.67, Now #3; Best prior run: 7.175/184.80, Was #3
Right Lane: Fred Collis Runs 7.215/185.08, Now #4; Best prior run: 7.179/183.74, Was #4

Again no change in t he order as we get close to the top of the list.

Left Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 7.215/185.05, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.162/190.65, Was #1
Right Lane: Angelle Savoie Runs 7.154/186.61, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.164/185.28, Was #2

A big run from Angelle to take over the top spot from the Harley as Hines can't match his early pace.
