Pro Stock Bike Qualifying Notes, Session #2

MILLINGTON, Tenn. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock Bike at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 16th annual O'Reilly NHRA Mid-South Nationals presented by Pennzoil listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Todd Doege Runs 7.319/177.44, Now #17; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Matthew Smith Runs 7.442/179.64, Now #21; No Prior Run

6:02 PM Current weather conditions: 67 degrees, 71 percent relative humidity, the barometer 30.09 inches, with a track temperature of 91 degrees.

Doege left before the tree was activated in round one. He makes a decent pass here but still doesn't make the show.

Right Lane: Josh Helvie Runs 7.341/176.88, Now #18; No Prior Run

Helvie makes a full pass but doesn't get in the field.

Left Lane: Michael Lozano Runs 8.796/103.51, Now #26; Best prior run: 8.282/163.97, Was #26
Right Lane: Keith Dennis No Time, Now #28; Best prior run: 12.476/63.63, Was #28

Dennis could never get the bike to start and could not make the run. Lozano got about 800 feet out, the bike didn't shift and he had to shut down.

Left Lane: Kurt Matte Runs 7.799/166.21, Now #25; Best prior run: 8.193/159.01, Was #25
Right Lane: Redell Harris Runs 7.467/176.51, Now #23; Best prior run: 7.853/177.32, Was #24

Both riders improve on their first run but can't get in the show.

Left Lane: Keith Freeman Runs 7.458/176.81, Now #21; Best prior run: 7.427/177.93, Was #21
Right Lane: Gary Tonglet Runs 7.529/169.74, Now #24; Best prior run: 7.649/177.21, Was #24

Freeman slows from his earlier pass and will have to wait until tomorrow to try again. Tonglet improves but not enough.

Left Lane: GT Tonglet Runs 7.313/179.42, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.315/179.09, Was #16
Right Lane: Sean Conner Runs 7.223/185.26, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.401/182.11, Was #20

Tonglet spun the tire off the line but still improved enough to move up a spot. Good run for Conner and he moves into the field in the tenth spot.

Left Lane: Chris Reuter Runs 7.444/151.24, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.315/180.89, Was #17
Right Lane: Fred Camarena Runs 7.276/177.72, Now #14; Best prior run: 7.342/181.54, Was #20

Reuter was on a decent pass until the 1000-foot mark, then something goes wrong with the bike, not sure what, and he slows. Camarena gets in the show in the 14th spot.

Left Lane: Reggie Showers Runs 7.186/188.46, Now #6; Best prior run: 7.306/182.18, Was #15
Right Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 7.245/183.29, Now #12; Best prior run: 7.314/182.23, Was #17

Showers makes a good pass, the best of the round so far, and moves up to the sixth spot. Johnson gets in the field in the 12th spot and bumps out GT Tonglet.

Left Lane: Blaine Hale Runs 7.479/176.88, Now #14; Best prior run: 7.258/179.49, Was #14
Right Lane: Tommy Grimes Jr Runs 7.311/177.79, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.270/180.52, Was #15

Left Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 7.255/177.60, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.217/180.50, Was #10
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 7.231/180.81, Now #12; Best prior run: 7.253/184.95, Was #13

Left Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 7.229/182.97, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.212/181.59, Was #8
Right Lane: Craig Treble Runs 7.211/185.41, Now #8; Best prior run: 7.213/185.61, Was #9

Treble improves and these two swap places in the field.

Left Lane: Mike Berry Runs 7.191/185.41, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.164/185.95, Was #5
Right Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 7.205/183.34, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.197/183.79, Was #7

No help for either rider.

Left Lane: Angelle Savoie Runs 7.140/183.57, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.120/186.82, Was #2
Right Lane: Fred Collis Runs 7.187/184.35, Now #4; Best prior run: 7.163/185.05, Was #4

Left Lane: Geno Scali Runs 16.689/42.78, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.119/187.13, Was #1
Right Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 7.187/181.94, Now #3; Best prior run: 7.133/187.81, Was #3

Scali has problems about 300 feet out and shuts down. This ends the last session today, Scali is on the pole and Camarena on the bump with a 7.276.
