Pro Stock Bike Qualifying Notes, Session #3

MILLINGTON, Tenn. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Stock Bike at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 16th annual O'Reilly NHRA Mid-South Nationals presented by Pennzoil listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Keith Dennis Runs 7.332/179.66, Now #20; Best prior run: 12.476/63.63, Was #28
Right Lane: Bruce Dickson No Time, Now #28; Best prior run: 12.353/59.56, Was #27

Dickson couldn't get the bike to start and could not make a run. Dennis makes a decent pass but it still isn't enough.

Left Lane: Gary Tonglet Runs 7.415/177.65, Now #22; Best prior run: 7.529/169.74, Was #25
Right Lane: Geno Scali Runs 7.124/187.39, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.119/187.13, Was #1

Tonglet goes right down the groove and improves by a tenth, but it still isn't enough.

Left Lane: Redell Harris Runs 7.475/176.58, Now #25; Best prior run: 7.467/176.51, Was #25
Right Lane: Michael Lozano Runs 7.711/162.27, Now #26; Best prior run: 8.282/163.97, Was #27

Current weather conditions: 65 degrees, 71 percent relative humidity, the barometer 30.19 inches, with a track temperature of 85 degrees.

Harris gets out of the groove, veers toward the center-line but hangs on for a decent pass.

Left Lane: Matthew Smith Runs 7.384/179.33, Now #22; Best prior run: 7.442/179.64, Was #24
Right Lane: Kurt Matte Runs 7.705/164.25, Now #26; Best prior run: 7.799/166.21, Was #27

A couple of good runs but no help for either rider.

Left Lane: Josh Helvie Runs 7.652/176.19, Now #21; Best prior run: 7.341/176.88, Was #21
Right Lane: Blaine Hale Runs 7.289/178.61, Now #14; Best prior run: 7.258/179.49, Was #14

Helvie gets out of the groove, makes a move to the right, then gets it straightened out. Hale goes right down the groove.

Left Lane: Tommy Grimes Jr Runs 7.371/179.68, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.270/180.52, Was #15
Right Lane: Keith Freeman Runs 7.444/178.54, Now #24; Best prior run: 7.427/177.93, Was #24

Grimes goes right down the groove but slows from his earlier runs yesterday. No help for Freeman.

Left Lane: Fred Camarena Runs 7.316/180.31, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.276/177.72, Was #16
Right Lane: Chris Reuter Runs 7.392/170.30, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.315/180.89, Was #18

Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 7.319/181.64, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.245/183.29, Was #13
Right Lane: Todd Doege Runs 7.351/178.05, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.319/177.44, Was #19

No help for either rider, the bikes are running a little slower than yesterday.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 7.294/182.40, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.231/180.81, Was #12
Right Lane: GT Tonglet Runs 7.216/177.95, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.313/179.42, Was #17

Tonglet is the first to bump into the field.

Left Lane: Sean Conner Runs 7.292/180.69, Now #12; Best prior run: 7.223/185.26, Was #12
Right Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 7.157/180.21, Now #4; Best prior run: 7.217/180.50, Was #11

Hines makes a big jump, the Harleys seem to be the only bikes improving, and he gets in the fourth spot for now.

Left Lane: Craig Treble Runs 7.219/184.09, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.211/185.41, Was #9
Right Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 7.233/178.45, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.212/181.59, Was #10

Left Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 7.310/178.87, Now #8; Best prior run: 7.197/183.79, Was #8
Right Lane: Mike Berry Runs 7.171/186.72, Now #6; Best prior run: 7.164/185.95, Was #6

Berry makes another good pass, no help for Stoffer.

Left Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 7.125/187.76, Now #3; Best prior run: 7.133/187.81, Was #3
Right Lane: Reggie Showers Runs 7.239/186.85, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.186/188.46, Was #7

Gann makes a great pass, the quickest of the session so far, but he stays in the third spot.

Left Lane: Fred Collis Runs 7.147/185.97, Now #4; Best prior run: 7.163/185.05, Was #5
Right Lane: Angelle Savoie Runs 7.096/185.26, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.120/186.82, Was #2

Savoie makes a great pass and takes over the top spot after the third round of qualifying.
