MILLINGTON, Tenn. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 16th annual O'Reilly NHRA Mid-South Nationals presented by Pennzoil listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Eric Shelton Runs 6.888/199.67, Now #29; Best prior run: 6.949/198.96, Was #32
Right Lane: Troy Coughlin Runs 6.838/202.61, Now #20; Best prior run: 6.857/202.42, Was #25

Current weather conditions: 65 degrees, 71 percent relative humidity, the barometer 30.19 inches, with a track temperature of 93 degrees under beautiful blue skies.

Shelton runs a career E.T. and mph here. Coughlin improves, but not enough.

Left Lane: Jose Maldonado Runs 6.893/199.67, Now #31; Best prior run: 6.893/198.96, Was #31
Right Lane: Jim Cunningham Runs 13.912/59.16, Now #33; Best prior run: 7.152/191.21, Was #33

Cunningham had problems right off the starting line. Maldonado repeats his time from yesterday.

Left Lane: Jerry Haas Runs 6.853/200.32, Now #26; Best prior run: 6.873/200.83, Was #27
Right Lane: Arturo Delgado Runs 6.879/199.82, Now #29; Best prior run: 6.892/199.29, Was #30

Both cars improve, but not near enough.

Left Lane: Barry Grant Runs 13.812/56.17, Now #27; Best prior run: 6.872/201.01, Was #27
Right Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.879/201.79, Now #28; Best prior run: 6.876/201.52, Was #28

Grant shook the tires hard to about 100 feet and clicked it off. V. Gaines rattled the tires about 60 feet down track.

Left Lane: Kenny Koretsky Runs 6.851/202.58, Now #23; Best prior run: 6.845/201.79, Was #23
Right Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.848/201.01, Now #25; Best prior run: 6.849/200.68, Was #25

Koretsky slowed from yesterday. Stanfield picks up, but not near enough.

Left Lane: Mark Whisnant Runs 10.554/84.73, Now #22; Best prior run: 6.841/201.85, Was #22
Right Lane: Mike Thomas Runs 6.856/200.41, Now #24; Best prior run: 6.847/200.20, Was #24

Whisnant with tire shake and shut it off. No help for Thomas.

Left Lane: Mark Pawuk Runs 6.849/200.62, Now #19; Best prior run: 6.835/201.10, Was #19
Right Lane: Ben Watson Runs 11.659/74.88, Now #21; Best prior run: 6.839/200.53, Was #21

Watson with a lot of tire shake and shut off. No help for Pawuk here.

Left Lane: George Marnell Runs 10.295/86.58, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.824/201.97, Was #17
Right Lane: Bo Nickens Runs 6.862/200.11, Now #18; Best prior run: 6.830/201.19, Was #18

Marnell shut it off by 200 feet. Nickens did not improve on his time from yesterday.

Left Lane: Scott Geoffrion Runs 9.957/91.12, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.817/203.12, Was #16
Right Lane: Dave Connolly Runs 6.793/203.31, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.804/202.67, Was #10

Geoffrion started to rattle the tires around 60 feet down track and then clicked it off. Connolly with a with a big top end charge to move into the top half of the show.

Left Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.774/203.46, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.814/203.25, Was #14
Right Lane: Taylor Lastor Runs 6.811/202.33, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.816/201.67, Was #15

Warren finally gets that run he has been looking for with a 1.004 60-foot time and he moves into the number two spot. Lastor improve.

Left Lane: Steve Schmidt Runs 6.839/201.79, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.813/202.27, Was #15
Right Lane: Gene Wilson Runs 6.797/202.97, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.801/202.85, Was #11

Schmidt was real loose right off starting line. Wilson with a 1.008 60-foot time and moves up the ladder a couple spots.

Left Lane: Bruce Allen Runs 6.806/202.67, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.810/202.94, Was #13
Right Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.812/202.52, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.800/201.55, Was #11

Allen with a 1.007 60-foot time and he step up a spot. No help for Edwards and he will stay 11th.

Left Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.835/201.22, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.807/202.33, Was #13
Right Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.803/202.58, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.784/202.58, Was #6

Johnson was real loose right off the starting line and made a quick move toward the wall, but reeled it in. No help for Krisher and he will stay 6th.

Left Lane: Darrell Alderman Runs 6.797/202.48, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.797/202.48, Was #10
Right Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.759/204.23, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.783/203.00, Was #5

Alderman with the quicker 60-foot time the first sub-1 second 60-foot time, but Anderson with the big top end charge to move into the number two spot. Anderson sets the track mph record with this pass.

Left Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.785/203.37, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.787/203.71, Was #7
Right Lane: Jim Yates Runs 6.804/201.88, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.780/201.97, Was #4

Yates with the quicker 60-foot time, but Johnson with the big top end charge. Johnson improves, but stays seven and no help here for Yates.

Left Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.794/203.12, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.782/203.61, Was #5
Right Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.775/202.33, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.748/202.94, Was #1

Coughlin with the quickest 60-foot time of the session a 0.993 seconds, but was only third quick of the session. He will stay number one. Morgan with another good looking pass here, but will stay number five going into the final session.
