CLERMONT, Ind. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Pro Stock at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 54th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals:

8 Warren Johnson 3 Dave Connolly
E1 0.048 9.806 94.89 ****WINNER**** 0.029 6.681 206.70
 Qualified: #8 6.668 207.88 #9 6.671 206.45
11:55 a.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 81 degrees, relative humidity 42 percent, barometer 29.24 inches, adjusted altitude 2,851 feet, track temperature 109 degrees.

This is WJ's 33rd US Nationals, more than any other driver in Pro Stock. Warren has won it six times, and needs to go to the final round today to make the last spot in the countdown for the championship. If he does not make the final round, Greg Stanfield will hold onto the final spot.

Connolly is the defending champ here at Indy, the starting line battle will likely be key here.

WJ rattled then shook hard enough the car started skating around. That was it, he lifted, and Greg Stanfield will take the final spot in the countdown. Nice pass for Connolly, he ran just .01 off his qualifying time.

2 Greg Anderson 9 Richie Stevens

Greg Anderson has won here five times: 01, 03, 04, 05, 06. He was the runner-up last year, ending his string of consecutive victories at four.

Richie Stevens was the runner up in 2005. Anderson staged first, and got a big advantage right off the line. Greg Anderson's incremental times: 60ft-1.004 sec., 330ft-2.802, 660ft-4.297/164.71mph, 1,000ft-5.587

Krisher is running his lucky 13th time at Indy, Jones is racing here for the first time on Monday. Jones got the light, then held off Krisher the whole way - Rickie Jones' incremental margins: 60ft(0.044), 330 ft(0.050), 660ft(0.051), 1,000ft(0.048). MOV: 0.0446 seconds (approximately 14 feet).

Kurt Johnson won here in 1996 and 1997, he was the runner-up in 2003.

Justin Humphreys is making his 2nd start here at Indy, he's made the field both times. Humphreys left too soon, Kurt left very little on the table there anyway, low ET of the round by quite a bit. Kurt Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.999 sec., 330ft-2.795, 660ft-4.291/164.87mph, 1,000ft-5.579

Mike Edwards is making his 12th US Nationals start today, he defeated WJ here in 1998 to claim his first US Nationals title.

Spiess is making his first start at the big go...

Spiess won the starting line battle, Edwards had pulled even by halfway, then legged it out to win by .009, or about three feet. Edwards will race Greg Anderson in the next round, and by .001 Edwards will have lane choice.

5 Jason Line 7 Larry Morgan
E1 0.127 6.667 207.27 ****WINNER**** 0.030 6.719 205.76
 Qualified: #3 6.661 207.05 #14 6.688 206.01
Jason Line is making his 6th start, he got his first round win in Pro Stock here in 2003.

Larry Morgan is making his 22nd start, only WJ has more experience in this field. Larry won here in 1989, and has been runner up three times.

Happy Anniversary Larry Morgan! For the 47th time in his storied career Larry wins it on a hole shot!

Line was dead late off the line, and Larry and wife Diane will have to wait awhile to celebrate their wedding anniversary.

Morgan will face Jones in the next round, and Jones will have lane choice.

4 Allen Johnson 7406 Vinnie Deceglie
E1 ****WINNER**** 0.083 6.659 206.86 0.059 6.703 206.61
 Qualified: #1 6.634 207.18 #16 6.689 206.67
Allen Johnson put a Mopar on the pole of Pro Stock for the 2nd year in a row, something that has never been done before. Considering some of the legendary teams in Mopar's history, (Sox & Martin come to mind) it's a bit of a surprise to find out. (Thanks Bob Frey).

Allen is competing in his 13th US Nationals, this is the first time he's competing from the #1 spot to win the big go, and it's the 2nd time in 2008 he's been number one at the start of eliminations.

Vinnie got a little on the line, but Allen passed him by the 330-foot markers.

Johnson will face Dave Connolly in round two, and Johnson will have lane choice.Allen Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.986 sec., 330ft-2.779, 660ft-4.277/164.51mph, 1,000ft-5.569
