Edwards was first out of the gate and stayed in front for the entire quarter mile. Krisher's car slowed as he made his way down the track.

Gaines go off the starting line first and Line's care made a move toward the center line at about 330 feet. Gaines got the win and will move on to round three.

Johnson was first out of the gate but must have spun the tires. By the time they reached 60 feet, they were dead even. After that, Connolly pulled ahead. Dave Connolly's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(0.000), 330 ft(-0.001), 660ft(0.006), 1,000ft(0.005). MOV: 0.0047 seconds (approximately 17 inches). Connolly will have lane choice over Gaines in the third round.
