Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Session #3

MILLINGTON, Tenn. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 20th annual O'Reilly Mid-South Nationals presented by Pennzoil listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Todd Hoerner No Time, Now #23; Best prior run: 6.895/202.15, Was #23
Right Lane: Kenny Koretsky Runs 13.084/109.93, Now #22; Best prior run: 6.790/203.61, Was #22

Weather conditions: air temperature 79 degrees, relative humidity 27 percent, barometer 29.94 inches, adjusted altitude 1,533 feet, track temperature 104 degrees.

Hoerner was leaking oil on the burnout and was shut off. Koretsky made a quick move toward the wall and did a great driving job to keep the car from hitting the wall.

Left Lane: Justin Humphreys Runs 13.948/59.33, Now #21; Best prior run: 6.762/203.92, Was #20
Right Lane: Bill Glidden Runs 6.704/205.54, Now #6; Best prior run: 9.340/99.52, Was #24

Humphreys shook right off the starting line and clicked it off. Glidden with a career best pass here to get into the top half of the show. Bill Glidden's incremental times: 60ft-0.991 sec., 330ft-2.800, 660ft-4.311/163.37mph, 1,000ft-5.610

Left Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.667/207.69, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.749/204.39, Was #15
Right Lane: Ben Watson Runs 14.720/53.28, Now #22; Best prior run: 6.769/202.33, Was #22

Watson with problems right off the starting line and clicked it off. Stanfield with a great pass to go to the number one spot and set both ends of the track record. Stanfield just stated the he thought the bump spot would be around 6.65 or 6.66, so it should be great out here...

Left Lane: Dave Northrop Runs 6.680/206.70, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.756/203.77, Was #20
Right Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.632/207.88, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.753/204.20, Was #19

Well it looks like Stanfield might of known what he was talking about as we have a couple more great looking passes...Edwards was straight down Kenny Bernstein Boulevard to go to the number one spot and set both ends of the track record. Mike Edwards' incremental times: 60ft-0.990 sec., 330ft-2.776, 660ft-4.266/165.68mph, 1,000ft-5.549

Left Lane: Steve Schmidt Runs 6.691/206.04, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.751/205.01, Was #20
Right Lane: Craig Hankinson Runs 6.657/207.27, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.750/203.74, Was #18

Hankinson was loose right off the starting line, but still had a really good short time...Craig Hankinson's incremental times: 60ft-0.978 sec., 330ft-2.784, 660ft-4.282/164.71mph, 1,000ft-5.571 Schmidt with a nice pass to get into the show, and he will bump out Line.

Left Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.692/207.91, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.751/205.66, Was #20
Right Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.643/207.98, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.737/202.76, Was #19

Gaines with a real nice pass to go to the number two spot...V. Gaines' incremental times: 60ft-1.000 sec., 330ft-2.789, 660ft-4.278/165.27mph, 1,000ft-5.561 WJ gets in the show and bumps out Krisher, so we will see if WJ is quick enough to stay in the show.

Left Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.596/208.68, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.729/205.44, Was #19
Right Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.619/207.98, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.736/204.94, Was #20

This was a great side-by-side drag race with these two going to the number one and two spots. Jason Line's incremental times: 60ft-0.981 sec., 330ft-2.759, 660ft-4.242/166.42mph, 1,000ft-5.519
Jeg Coughlin's incremental times: 60ft-0.980 sec., 330ft-2.769, 660ft-4.256/165.82mph, 1,000ft-5.537

Line with both ends of the track record, here...

Left Lane: Tom Hammonds Runs 14.013/77.27, Now #20; Best prior run: 6.719/205.29, Was #19
Right Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.663/207.62, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.723/203.61, Was #20

Kurt Johnson is on the bump spot at 6.709. Hammonds with violent tire shake and clicked it off, he will be down to one shot to get into the show. Krisher with a nice pass to get into the top half of the show. Ron Krisher's incremental times: 60ft-0.987 sec., 330ft-2.797, 660ft-4.293/165.03mph, 1,000ft-5.579 He bumped out Johnson and puts Bill Glidden on the bump spot at 6.704.

Left Lane: Max Naylor Runs 6.594/207.37, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.715/203.34, Was #19
Right Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.624/208.07, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.700/205.54, Was #15

Naylor with his career quickest pass to go to the number one spot and grab the track E.T. record. Johnson with a real nice pass for the fourth spot. Max Naylor's incremental times: 60ft-0.966 sec., 330ft-2.743, 660ft-4.228/165.76mph, 1,000ft-5.510
Allen Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.982 sec., 330ft-2.766, 660ft-4.257/165.23mph, 1,000ft-5.541

Left Lane: Richie Stevens Runs 6.605/207.91, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.713/204.88, Was #19
Right Lane: Jim Yates Runs 6.646/207.56, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.697/205.07, Was #16

Stevens with a good looking pass to go to the number three spot. Richie Stevens' incremental times: 60ft-0.974 sec., 330ft-2.754, 660ft-4.241/165.68mph, 1,000ft-5.523 Yates gets into the top half of the show. Jim Yates' incremental times: 60ft-0.995 sec., 330ft-2.787, 660ft-4.278/164.99mph, 1,000ft-5.563

Left Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.639/207.40, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.709/205.76, Was #19
Right Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.637/207.66, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.688/205.29, Was #14

This was a real good side-b-side drag race as these two go to the number seven and eight spots. Kurt Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.991 sec., 330ft-2.779, 660ft-4.270/165.54mph, 1,000ft-5.554
Larry Morgan's incremental times: 60ft-0.981 sec., 330ft-2.777, 660ft-4.269/165.29mph, 1,000ft-5.553 Kurt will bump out his father here, and Steve Schmidt is on the bump spot at 6.691.

This was a great race to end one of the better session of Pro Stock qualifying this year. These two go to the number three and four spots. Greg Anderson's incremental times: 60ft-0.987 sec., 330ft-2.767, 660ft-4.248/166.72mph, 1,000ft-5.523
Dave Connolly's incremental times: 60ft-0.973 sec., 330ft-2.759, 660ft-4.243/166.23mph, 1,000ft-5.521

Anderson just bumped out Schmidt and Dave Northrop is on the bump spot at 6.680.
