 Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET-- Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET-- Speed
7230 Randy Jones 7265 Tom Brown
E1 0.135 15.230 56.63 ****WINNER**** 0.079 8.678 128.74
       D/SM Index: 9.10 (+/-): 6.130 F/ED Index: 8.91 (+/-): -0.232
 Qualified: #15 8.508 -0.592 #31 8.551 -0.359
11:31 a.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 69 degrees, relative humidity 17 percent, barometer 29.10 inches, adjusted altitude 1815 feet, track temperature 84 degrees.

Jones was a bit late then had mechanical problems. Brown takes the gift to the second round.

7298 Scott Hedlund 77 David Beckley
E1 0.039 8.113 157.63 ****WINNER**** 0.082 6.642 192.85

No problem here for #2 qualifier, Beckley. The Vette was flying and after he passed Hedlund you could hear his ride slow. David Beckley's MOV: 0.0188 seconds (approximately 4 feet).

 7771 Ed Sigmon 720 J.D. Zink

Zink is really red here in round one. Sigmon gets the win and says thank you.

 Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET-- Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET-- Speed
7828 Wayne Ramay 54 Bill Morse
E1 ****WINNER**** 0.056 7.064 182.11 0.123 9.004 133.41

Ramay has the new slide valve injectors on this weekend. Or so I've heard. He does not have to stretch the legs of his A/ND to get the win over Morse.

 Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET-- Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET-- Speed
73 Tom Mettler 450D Dean Howerton

Howerton goes red and hands a win to Mettler.

14 Frank Aragona 4025 Joey Tanksley
E1 ****WINNER**** 0.019 8.515 139.53 0.041 7.167 177.35

Two good lights blow the myth about Comp drivers out of the water. Aragona gets the win but will give a bit to the CIC gods next round.

 Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET-- Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET-- Speed
75 Alan Ellis 730 Bryan Fitzgerald

Ellis, with the much better light, tiptoed next to the center stripe all the way down.

 Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET-- Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET-- Speed
72 Jim Cowan 717 Mike DePalma

Another pair of great lights but DePalma takes a perm CIC as he goes more than .60 under for the win.

 Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET-- Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET-- Speed
610 John Edwards 51 Clint Sallee

 Qualified: #21 7.490 -0.560 #5 6.633 -0.637
Edwards wasn't real sharp on the lights but gets the win on performance.

 Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET-- Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET-- Speed
5800 Al Bresch 62 Dave Barcelon
E1 0.070 9.090 149.48 ****WINNER**** 0.049 8.648 145.86

Barcelon was away first and held off Bresch to go to round two. Best part for Barcelon is it keeps his entire index.

 Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET-- Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET-- Speed
529Y Steve Holloway 7 Dean Carter

This was over on the starting line. Carter has a psychic light and is able to pull well away from Holloway.

178 Dan Fletcher 550 Will Hatcher

Pretty even at the hit but Massel hits the hair drier hard and goes -.750 on the index. I hope he's the only one running DD/AT! Miller only went the normal -.562 under in the other lane.

Lane takes a perm CIC into the second round even after Mozeris has this horrible light.

Ficco had problems getting the car off the starting line and the win goes to Kent.
