Competition Eliminator Qualifying Notes, Final Session

CHANDLER, Ariz. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Competition Eliminator at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 23rd annual Checker Schuck's Kragen NHRA Nationals presented by Castrol listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed this round, amount over/under index this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time, speed & over/under Index, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Sam Tufano No Time, Now #38; G/SMA Index: 9.41, No Prior Run
Right Lane: David Cook Jr No Time, Now #39; A/D Index: 7.10, No Prior Run

5:44 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 55 degrees, relative humidity 23 percent, barometer 28.90 inches, adjusted altitude 1,071 feet, track temperature 55 degrees.

Cook made the burnout and proceeded to spread a thin layer of 'stuff' all over the starting line. The layer took up the whole lane out to about 330 and the cleaning took almost half an hour.

We were down for a long time on that oil down. Almost an hour. Tufano will not be making this field.

Both cars spun the tires hard at the hit and neither will qualify. Deceglie was so slow the system actually timed him out.

No help at all and another pair goes home.

Miller spun the tires hard, as did Howerton. Howerton got timed out on his pass.

DePalma is close to his best but Morrison rattles the tires and slows.

Beckley was off the loud pedal around half track. He coasted on out to end the day as Super Comp and Super Gas have been postponed until Saturday.
