Competition Eliminator Qualifying Notes, Session #2

CHANDLER, Ariz. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Competition Eliminator at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 23rd annual Checker Schuck's Kragen NHRA Nationals presented by Castrol listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed this round, amount over/under index this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time, speed & over/under Index, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Jim Cowan Runs 8.261/160.08/-0.669, Now #1; D/EA Index: 8.93, No Prior Run
Right Lane: Bill Kent Runs 15.064/96.84/7.494, Now #34; C/D Index: 7.57, Prior Best: 15.064/96.85/7.494, Was #34

3:11 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 64 degrees, relative humidity 21 percent, barometer 28.80 inches, adjusted altitude 1,774 feet, track temperature 93 degrees.

Not sure if the class is correct but if so he's the new #1 qualifier.

Carter had problems on the first hit but makes the here. Big mph for Hatcher.

Sallee goes well into the field but Thomas will need the next round of qualifying.

Grundhoefer's car just didn't sound right at the hit and then he got very loose at the top end. He's in Dean Carter's altered. Morse makes the field.

Hedlund moves up to the top half of the field but Morrison just misses on that task.

Both drivers slow a bit from the first session.

Lane picks up just enough to pick up two spots. Fitzgerald remains in his position.

Massel loses .07 from his first but Mettler picks up his pace.

Edwards falls way off the pace. Marshall picks up about .02 but remains in #31 spot.

Beckley is outside the field, but not after this run. He actually runs under the national record and runs a huge speed. Howerton is pushed away after the burnout.

Tanksley made the burnout and then hopped out of the car and started pushing it back to the starting line. Ficco made his single but backed off the throttle around 1000ft. He remains #6.

Ramay picks up but is still in the bottom half. Mozeris slows a tenth from his first run.

Zink was moving around pretty good on the top end but he helps himself a little this time. Ellis is pushed away after the burnout.

Right Lane: Steve Holloway Runs 7.175/152.30/-0.155, Now #7; A/AA Index: 7.33, Prior Best: 6.701/206.76/-0.629, Was #7

Holloway looked good for the first 1000ft but the car fell silent at that point. That closes out the session and Pro Stock is next.
