Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Final Session

LAS VEGAS - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Sixth annual ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Scott Palmer Runs 7.406/89.76, Now #20; Best prior run: 4.831/247.29, Was #20
Right Lane: Rob Passey No Time, Now #22; Best prior run: 10.246/73.36, Was #22

Passey had problems as soon as he hit the throttle and coasted to a stop just before the finish line. Palmer started to smoke the tires and pedaled it and then lifted and got over by the wall. He coasted to a stop just past the finish line.

Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 4.724/295.08, Now #19; Best prior run: 4.689/311.05, Was #19
Right Lane: Steven Chrisman Runs 13.353/81.36, Now #21; Best prior run: 4.919/294.05, Was #21

Chrisman is up in smoke right off the starting line. Millican slowed on the top end he will not make the show.

Left Lane: Joe Hartley Runs 4.659/327.51, Now #18; Best prior run: 4.633/323.66, Was #18
Right Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 5.062/222.14, Now #17; Best prior run: 4.632/296.70, Was #17

Lucas' engine went away around 800 feet and he will not make the show for the first time in his career. Hartley with a nice pass, but not quick enough to get in the show.

Right Lane: Mike Strasburg Runs 4.628/321.35, Now #16; Best prior run: 4.632/326.56, Was #16

Baca was in the left lane and he pulled out of line, because he is in the show. Strasburg with his best pass of the weekend, but he lost an engine on the top end.

Left Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 4.629/269.94, Now #14; Best prior run: 4.587/325.22, Was #14
Right Lane: Alan Bradshaw Runs 10.775/24.59, Now #13; Best prior run: 4.584/326.24, Was #13

Bradshaw with problems early and clicked it off. Dixon was on a good pass until about 1100 feet and started to move around and the engine let go with a huge fireball.

Left Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 4.623/323.58, Now #11; Best prior run: 4.583/326.56, Was #11
Right Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 4.692/325.37, Now #12; Best prior run: 4.583/324.20, Was #12

Another good looking pass for Torrence. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.868 sec., 330ft-2.212, 660ft-3.149/269.51mph, 1,000ft-3.939 Vandergriff with a good clean pass and then no parachutes and he did a great job getting it slowed before just edging into the sand.

Left Lane: Doug Herbert Runs 4.600/312.64, Now #8; Best prior run: 4.564/324.28, Was #7
Right Lane: Melanie Troxel Runs 4.558/329.42, Now #7; Best prior run: 4.574/327.43, Was #10

Troxel with a real nice pass, her quickest of the weekend to move into the top half field. A good pass for Herbert, but didn't improve. He stayed in the top half of the show.

Left Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 4.522/329.58, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.544/331.61, Was #6
Right Lane: David Grubnic Runs 12.340/79.46, Now #9; Best prior run: 4.570/327.19, Was #9

Grubnic is up in smoke right off the starting line. Bernstein with a great pass, straight down the groove to go to the number two spot. Brandon Bernstein's incremental times: 60ft-0.857 sec., 330ft-2.166, 660ft-3.079/276.35mph, 1,000ft-3.850

Left Lane: Cory McClenathan Runs 7.202/106.19, Now #6; Best prior run: 4.536/329.10, Was #6
Right Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 10.375/83.45, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.526/320.20, Was #3

El vis (Brian Olson) is backing Cory Mac up after the burnout. Todd is up in smoke as soon as he hit the throttle. Cory Mac was up in smoke and pedaled it one time to go back up in smoke and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Hillary Will Runs 4.557/322.04, Now #4; Best prior run: 4.527/327.11, Was #4
Right Lane: Tony Schumacher No Time, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.445/333.08, Was #1

Will with a great pass, one of the most consistent car this weekend. Hillary Will's incremental times: 60ft-0.865 sec., 330ft-2.166, 660ft-3.082/272.67mph, 1,000ft-3.868 Schumacher with problems right off the starting line and came to a stop about the 200-foot mark.

Left Lane: Rod Fuller Runs 4.669/266.95, Now #10; Best prior run: 4.571/326.48, Was #10
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 4.567/329.18, Now #5; Best prior run: 4.530/327.74, Was #5

Fuller with a great looking pass until about 1000 feet when the car pitched the blower belt off. Kalitta with a great looking pass, but will stay fifth.
