POMONA, Calif. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Competition Eliminator at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 41st annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed this round, amount over/under index this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time, speed & over/under Index, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: John Mihovetz Runs 6.843/209.69/-0.547, Now #1; AA/AT Index: 7.39, Prior Best: 6.711/213.37/-0.679, Was #1
Right Lane: David Sumek Runs 6.735/202.21/-0.455, Now #29; AA/AM Index: 7.19, Prior Best: 6.685/203.09/-0.505, Was #29

1:29 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 67 degrees, relative humidity 31 percent, barometer 29.42 inches, adjusted altitude 1,234 feet, track temperature 90 degrees.

Mihovetz made a good run, just not as good as his last one. Sumek also made a good pass, but conditions are not quite as good as they were earlier.

Smithfield jumped way up the ladder on an outstanding ru, pushing Gebhardt down into the bottom half of the field.

Justice got his problems sorted out, jumped into the field in the middle of the pack. Now David Sumek is on the bump spot at -0.505. Lane slowed on the top end, no sign of any problem.

Deceglie's car shook and danced on the launch, he drove through it for his best ET of the weekend. Huggins nailed this one, also making his best run of the weekend to move way up in the top part of the field.

Butner had problems staging and was timed out. Gillette had problems early in the run and idled through.

Zane shut off about 1,000 feet down the track. Taylor ran it out the back door to move into the top four.

Two consistent runs, good news for Zane, bad news for Smith, he stays as the #1 alternate.

Biondo's first run started off badly, with tire shake, and he did not make the field. Snyder also shook a bit and could not bump back into the field. They are the second and third alternates.

Last car. Nice run. John Mihovetz is the #1 qualifier at -0.679 and David Sumek is on the bump spot at -0.505.
