ENNIS, Texas - What do you get when you take a typical Friday schedule and chop the Sportsman eliminations off the top? You get today's schedule at the Texas Motorplex, two rounds of qualifying for Competition Eliminator, Top Alcohol, Pro Mod, Pro Stock, Funny Car, and Top Fuel, starting at 11:00 AM.

Though it was overcast and humid all day Thursday and Thursday night, the unpaved parking areas firmed up enough (helped by several loads of gravel) to start parking Super Comp and Super Gas cars. They will get one time trial Saturday morning, followed by first round eliminations for Comp, Super Comp, and Super Gas.

Professional and Top Alcohol competitors will get their last two qualifying runs starting at noon Saturday, then the Super Comp and Super Gas fields will be whittled down to a dozen cars or so and the Top Alcohol will run one round of eliminations.

Sunday morning will open with time trials for the Super Street, Stock, and Super Stock drivers remaining in competition (who will have been parked elsewhere since Thursday night). Then Competition Eliminator, Super Gas, and Super Comp will cut their fields down to eight cars (or less).

By then the fields will be down to the normal Sunday show, with pre-race ceremonies starting at 10:15 AM and final eliminations at 11:00.
