2:09 PM The temperature is 70 degrees, the humidity is 57 percent, the barometer is 30.12 and the track temp is 97 degrees.

Faucher starts shaking the tires right off the line, tries to drive through it but finally gives up about 400 feet out. Barklage shook the tires, skated around a bit but never lifted.

Patterson does his burn-out and blows the motor. He gets out of the car and and waits for Smith to make his run. Smith comes off the line, gets out of the groove and gets the car up on two wheels. He makes a hard move toward the center-line and shuts down. We're down for a cleanup in the left lane.

The Safety Safari is using a different oil absorbent this race, Berryman GREEN STUFF® Absorbent.

Left Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 6.417/219.51, Now #2
Right Lane: Randy Hagerty Runs 6.676/207.99, Now #4

2:46 PM and we're back after a fifteen minute cleanup. The wait didn't seem to hurt Smith, he goes right down the groove and gets in the second spot for now.

Right Lane: Marty McGinnis Runs 6.501/218.02, Now #4

Left Lane: Chuck Nuytten Runs 7.135/191.53, Now #8
Right Lane: Billy Harper Runs 6.481/188.52, Now #4

Nuytten was out of shape all the way through the run and puts out blue smoke as he goes through the lights. Harper makes a clean pass and gets into the field for now.

Left Lane: Bill Kuhlmann Runs 7.334/134.54, Now #10
Right Lane: Bill Hill Runs 7.223/146.34, Now #9

Kuhlmann gets out of the groove, starts moving around and finally gives up on the run. Hill was on a decent pass until about 700 feet, then a big flash came from under his car and shuts down.

Left Lane: Annette Summer Runs 7.538/154.40, Now #12
Right Lane: Andy Neyer Runs 6.455/222.44, Now #3

Summer gets about 100 feet out, shakes the tires and has to pedal. Neyer went right down the groove and gets in the show for now.
