Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #3

INDIANAPOLIS - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, 72nd annual Cornwell Quality Tools NHRA U.S. Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Right Lane: Lex Joon Runs 5.213/143.73, Now #19; No Prior Run

Weather conditions: air temperature 90 degrees, relative humidity 59 percent, barometer 29.86 inches, adjusted altitude 3,989 feet, track temperature 127 degrees.

Joon is up in smoke right at the hit and pedals it. He has a hole or two out and is back up in smoke before he clicks it off. He gets a number n the board.

Right Lane: Tony Stewart Runs 4.439/190.00, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.744/328.22, Was #2

Stewart started to haze the tires around 400 feet and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Josh Hart Runs 4.649/171.90, Now #9; Best prior run: 3.812/323.50, Was #9
Right Lane: Billy Torrence Runs 5.245/216.24, Now #18; Best prior run: 4.674/208.84, Was #18

Hart drives into tire smoke around half track and clicked it off.

Torrence was up in smoke right at the hit and pedaled it. He was back up in smoke and was off and on the throttle a couple more times.

Left Lane: T.J. Zizzo Runs 3.936/322.11, Now #16; Best prior run: 3.934/288.89, Was #16
Right Lane: Ida Zetterstrom Runs 3.958/311.70, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.809/328.46, Was #8

Zizzo is straight down the groove with a good pass, just a couple ticks off his qualifying time.

Zetterstrom with good clean pass until on the top end when it dropped and cylinder or two.

Left Lane: Will Smith Runs 7.540/88.08, Now #17; Best prior run: 4.499/166.76, Was #17
Right Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 9.764/82.55, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.727/334.98, Was #1

Smith starts to lose traction early and clicked it off.

Langdon is up in smoke right at the hit and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Tripp Tatum Runs 5.748/112.21, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.805/308.43, Was #7
Right Lane: Justin Ashley Runs 4.031/261.42, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.781/331.12, Was #5

Tatum starts to lose traction right off the starting line and clicked it off.

Ashley with a good pass early and then started to spin and drop some cylinders.

Left Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.991/317.42, Now #15; Best prior run: 3.920/312.93, Was #15
Right Lane: Clay Millican Runs 7.559/79.32, Now #12; Best prior run: 3.844/327.11, Was #12

Schumacher is straight down the groove, but was dropping some cylinders right in the lights.

Millican is up in smoke right at the hit and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Dan Mercier Runs 4.363/257.09, Now #13; Best prior run: 3.873/314.75, Was #13

Mercier has a cylinder or two out early, but he stayed with it.

Left Lane: Maddi Gordon Runs 4.805/156.86, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.818/324.67, Was #10
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.937/313.73, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.797/330.07, Was #6

Gordon starts to haze the tires and drop cylinders before she clicked it off.

Brown is straight down the groove with a clean pass.

Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 4.502/187.16, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.825/331.12, Was #11
Right Lane: Leah Pruett Runs 3.873/319.98, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.772/326.24, Was #3

Kalitta is dropping cylinders early and clicked it off.

Pruett launched hard and kept it hooked up to make the quickest pass of the session. Leah Pruett's incremental times: 60ft-0.868 sec., 330ft-2.199, 660ft-3.117/279.04 mph.
