Top Alcohol Dragster Qualifying Notes, Session #1

LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, 25th annual Dodge NHRA Nevada Nationals powered by Direct Connection listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Right Lane: Cheyne Phillips Runs 17.140/58.70, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 72 degrees, relative humidity 22 percent, barometer 29.96 inches, adjusted altitude 3,344 feet.

Phillips is making his NHRA debut, he is driving a Randy Meyer car. He is up in smoke right at the hit and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Johnny Ahten Runs 5.581/252.71, Now #1
Right Lane: Jerry Kumre Runs 5.697/201.82, Now #2

Ahten is at his second race this season, first since Pomona 1. He has a hole out right at the hit, but stays with it.

Kumre is at his fourth race this season, first since Seattle. He was on a good pass until past half track when something blew off the car.

Left Lane: Randy Eakins Runs 5.541/212.63, Now #2
Right Lane: Julio Rodriguez Runs 5.322/266.69, Now #1

Eakins is at his third race this season, first since Seattle. He is straight down the groove.

Rodriguez is making his second appearance on the National event tour, the other one was here in the spring. He launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the top of the list. He makes his career quickest and fastest pass. Julio Rodriguez's incremental times: 60ft-0.931 sec., 330ft-2.426, 660ft-3.544/224.10 mph, 1,000ft-4.496.

Left Lane: Braiden Chesleigh Runs 5.456/246.71, Now #2
Right Lane: Kelly Kundratic Runs 5.491/266.37, Now #3

Chesleigh is making his fourth stop on the National event tour this season, his last was Seattle. He is straight down the groove with a good clean pass to the number two spot.

Kundratic is make her fourth appearance on the National event this season. She kept it hooked up to make a good clean pass.

Left Lane: James Stevens Runs 5.592/259.51, Now #6
Right Lane: Mitch Myers Runs 5.814/237.13, Now #8

Stevens kept it hooked up to make a good pass.

Myers started to lose traction on the top end and clicked it off early.

Left Lane: Casey Grisel Runs 5.487/263.87, Now #4
Right Lane: Mike Austin Runs 5.350/270.27, Now #2

Grisel launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number four spot.

Austin was straight down the groove to go to the number two spot. Mike Austin's incremental times: 60ft-0.943 sec., 330ft-2.403, 660ft-3.545/217.42 mph, 1,000ft-4.520.

Left Lane: Shaunda Blinzler Runs 5.463/270.32, Now #5
Right Lane: Taylor Januik Runs 5.344/269.13, Now #2

This was a good drag race.

Blinzler kept it hooked up to go to the number five spot.

Januik launched hard and had it hitting on all eight to go to the number two spot. Taylor Januik's incremental times: 60ft-0.951 sec., 330ft-2.409, 660ft-3.541/218.72 mph, 1,000ft-4.512.

Left Lane: Kirk Wolf Runs 5.225/274.05, Now #1
Right Lane: Angelle Sampey Runs 5.354/269.03, Now #5

Wolf launched hard and kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to go to the number one spot. Kirk Wolf's incremental times: 60ft-0.944 sec., 330ft-2.400, 660ft-3.485/230.29 mph, 1,000ft-4.413.

Sampey with a good clean pass to start the weekend.

Left Lane: Madison Payne Runs 5.222/277.32, Now #2
Right Lane: Jon Bradford Runs 5.220/271.41, Now #1

This is good looking side-by-side drag race.

Payne is straight down the groove hitting on all eight to go to the number two spot. Madison Payne's incremental times: 60ft-0.939 sec., 330ft-2.404, 660ft-3.489/228.46 mph, 1,000ft-4.417.

Bradford launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Jon Bradford's incremental times: 60ft-0.890 sec., 330ft-2.324, 660ft-3.442/221.20 mph, 1,000ft-4.406.

Left Lane: Melanie Johnson Runs 5.301/272.28, Now #4
Right Lane: McKenna Bold Runs 5.430/265.69, Now #9

Johnson kept it hooked to go to the number four spot. Melanie Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.946 sec., 330ft-2.430, 660ft-3.538/225.33 mph, 1,000ft-4.483.

Bold with a clean pass to start the weekend.

Left Lane: Anthony Troyer Runs 5.368/270.16, Now #10
Right Lane: Joey Severance Runs 5.289/271.02, Now #4

Troyer is straight down the groove with a good clean pass.

Severance kept it hooked up to go to the number four spot. Joey Severance's incremental times: 60ft-0.902 sec., 330ft-2.358, 660ft-3.484/222.14 mph, 1,000ft-4.460.

Left Lane: Jackie Fricke Runs 5.258/276.92, Now #5
Right Lane: Shawn Cowie Runs 5.250/271.41, Now #4

this is good looking side-by-side drag race.

Fricke kept it hooked up and hitting on all eight to go to the number five spot. Jackie Fricke's incremental times: 60ft-0.941 sec., 330ft-2.430, 660ft-3.526/228.81 mph, 1,000ft-4.455.

Cowie can clinch the championship if he goes to the final round at this race. He launched hard and was straight down the groove to the number four spot. Shawn Cowie's incremental times: 60ft-0.918 sec., 330ft-2.345, 660ft-3.465/220.33 mph, 1,000ft-4.427.
